We stayed at the Caer Beris Manor on 4th February 2012 on a Travel Zoo deal, knew nothing of the hotel, but the deal was excellent. As we drove along the drive to be met by a beautiful manor house with beautiful ground with its own river, we knew we were in for something special.
We checked in early, but this did not seem to casue a problem, the owner personally showed us around her hotel clearly proud of every part and rightly so. It has been lovingly and at times I expect great cost, restored to its former beauty. We were as part of our deal offered either a beauty treatment such as a facial massage or a clay pidgeon shooting experience. We chose the facial.
Our room was warm, inviting and spotless. It had a big comfy bed lots of pillows and wonderful views of the countryside and river. We had lunch and a glass of wine and awaited our treatments, both having a facial and additional back neck and shoulder massages, delivered by an experienced therapist in a warm and inviting room.
I work in a very stressful job, as I sat by one of two roaring log fires looking at beautiful countryside, sipping an icy cold glass of wine with the softest classical music playing in the background I knew I had found heaven and felt all my cares lift away.
After our treatments we retired to our rooom and chilled before our excellent 5 course dinner, served with a fabulous wine list with very fair prices. The food was amazing and the chef came around all of the tables personally to check all was well. It was!
After a breakfast that could have been served in the best 5 star hotel offering everyone individualised choices including smoked haddock and poached eggs, full Welsh or smoked salmon and scrambled eggs. After breakfast we walked in the grounds and crossed over the river on the swing bridge, which has been restored as with everything else at Caer Beris with love and care.
We were treated like honoured guests by the owner Katharine, Brian, Daffid and 'Chef', At all times the service was amazing. We even requested cocktails not on the list, they were researched and delivered with a smile and tasted wonderful.
If you are looking for old fashioned service, in an ideal restful location with amazing food cooked by a fabulous chef look no further, we wont.
EVERYTHING was perfect, so much so we have booked for two nights in April and can't wait to go again.
Room Tip: This is a small hotel with only 20+ rooms, so all are good.
