“"A truly wonderful welcome in the hillside "”

Myself and my wife stopped at the Caer Beris Manor on a two night dinner , bed and breakfast deal this week. The premises are a lovely manor house tucked away down a long drive with log fires in the lounge , a clean, warm and comfortable bedroom and the food for the most part excellent .
Having stopped in many hotels in various parts of the world I doubt whether we have ever experienced a more helpful and courteous welcome and service from the owners and their staff. Nothing was too much trouble for them including their advice about local places to visit and walks that begin and end at the hotel.
Overall we had a really fun and memorable stay and will definitely return.

“An Oasis of luxury”

We stayed at the Caer Beris Manor on 4th February 2012 on a Travel Zoo deal, knew nothing of the hotel, but the deal was excellent. As we drove along the drive to be met by a beautiful manor house with beautiful ground with its own river, we knew we were in for something special.
We checked in early, but this did not seem to casue a problem, the owner personally showed us around her hotel clearly proud of every part and rightly so. It has been lovingly and at times I expect great cost, restored to its former beauty. We were as part of our deal offered either a beauty treatment such as a facial massage or a clay pidgeon shooting experience. We chose the facial.
Our room was warm, inviting and spotless. It had a big comfy bed lots of pillows and wonderful views of the countryside and river. We had lunch and a glass of wine and awaited our treatments, both having a facial and additional back neck and shoulder massages, delivered by an experienced therapist in a warm and inviting room.
I work in a very stressful job, as I sat by one of two roaring log fires looking at beautiful countryside, sipping an icy cold glass of wine with the softest classical music playing in the background I knew I had found heaven and felt all my cares lift away.
After our treatments we retired to our rooom and chilled before our excellent 5 course dinner, served with a fabulous wine list with very fair prices. The food was amazing and the chef came around all of the tables personally to check all was well. It was!
After a breakfast that could have been served in the best 5 star hotel offering everyone individualised choices including smoked haddock and poached eggs, full Welsh or smoked salmon and scrambled eggs. After breakfast we walked in the grounds and crossed over the river on the swing bridge, which has been restored as with everything else at Caer Beris with love and care.
We were treated like honoured guests by the owner Katharine, Brian, Daffid and 'Chef', At all times the service was amazing. We even requested cocktails not on the list, they were researched and delivered with a smile and tasted wonderful.
If you are looking for old fashioned service, in an ideal restful location with amazing food cooked by a fabulous chef look no further, we wont.
EVERYTHING was perfect, so much so we have booked for two nights in April and can't wait to go again.

Room Tip: This is a small hotel with only 20+ rooms, so all are good.

“New year 2011/12”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 January 2012

Six of us booked the New Year deal, including local walk and clay shooting. Most important comment is that Sean and his small team were outstanding and their efforts made the event enjoyable and exceeded expectations. Rooms were warm, clean and comfortable, individual in design and around 3 star level. Although a fixed menu was set for the two days the chef checked if the set menu was acceptable and offered alternatives to each of us. Food was generally good with some items excellent and one or two just average. Service was good all day, of note was Brian for whom nothing was too much trouble. The shooting was really enjoyable and the party night great fun. Many thanks to the staff who worked hard and made all of the events successful and the two days memorable.

Room Tip: Check the hot water supply.

“"A Hidden Gem"”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 January 2012

Just returned from a short stay at this wonderful gem of a hotel. The setting is beautiful, the staff attentive, and our room very confortable and tastfully decorated with a good view once the morning mist cleared . We had a meal in our room, and not only was the food good there was no charge for room service (that was a nice suprise, not like most chain hotels!) In the morning, we walked over the bridge, up out of the mist and within minutes we were in the beautiful coutryside on a crisp frosty morning. The walk (as directed by the hotel leaflet, excellent idea this) was a highlight of our weekend. We would recommend this hotel to any couples wanting to escape the hustle and bustle of a busy lifestyle.
