A thoroughly lovely guesthouse in the sleeping town of Leverburgh on Harris. The owner is really friendly and the house is absolutely wonderful with it's quirky details. An excellent value with a great and trusting atmosphere!

We stayed here overnight before a trip to St. Kilda, the bunkhouse is beautiful, elegant and quirky. The owner is very friendly, full of knowledge and enthusiasm for the area. We stayed in a 4-6 person room, plenty of room, and a wonderful atmosphere. Slightly more expensive than other hostels, but the standard makes it incredible value for money. If you are staying in Leverburgh, stay in Am Bothan.

We stayed here for one night while on a small group tour. I was in a 4 bunk room. The location was beautiful - in a little village on the coast. The bunks were very comfortable and built into the room so extremely sturdy (they don't wobble when the other person moves). The ceilings were also very high. The common room was very nice, but crowded considering how many people were staying in the hostel that night. Kitchen facility was nice, and well equipped. The washrooms were not ensuite for the rooms our group was in, but were down the hall. They were quite clean and very large. My only complaint was that it was cold in the rooms when we got there. Since we'd been hiking and were wet this wasn't fun. The owner did come and turn the heat on, but it was turned off again sometime during the night, so it was quite cold again in the morning. The fire in the stove in the common room had also gone out during the night so the common and washroom areas were very cold as well. I would highly recommend this place for the warmer months, but would be wary of this place for the colder months because being warm and getting dry is imperative to me.

Stayed here as the final night of a three night stay on Lewis/Harris. We'd planned this as a little extra break so, keen to keep costs down, we had two nights in Bunkhouses & one in a B&B. This was our third night away and we had been pleasantly surprised by the previous Bunkhouse so this had a lot to live up to - and it did. Lovely location, not far from the harbour, with a few places to eat nearby. the Bunkhouse itself was very informal and we were lucky to stay on a quiet night - the night before it had been extremely busy apparently but the night we stayed was quiet enough for us (my husband and myself) to have a four bunk room to ourselves. Clean, tidy, with everything necessary at hand, with well kept communal areas, including the bathrooms. Only minor quibble would be that it was rather hard to locate the owner in order to pay but we solved that by tracking him down next door! A sign indicating when he'd be about in the morning would be useful as we werent the only ones scratching our heads. Overall, good value and would definitely stay here again.
