We ( a group of 3 friends on motorcycles) stayed here on 4th September 2011. The Arch Inn is located on the waterfront and has a beautiful view over the Loch. A lot of the staff are from Ireland so it suited us well. We were able to park the bikes in the rear courtyard to the side of the bar - always a welcome privilege. I have read other reviews but I have to say that our rooms no's 8 and 9 were very clean, modern and well decorated. The view over the Loch is spectacular. The beds are comfortable and I had a very good nights sleep. We ate in the restaurant and found the starters to be exceptional and the mains very good and great value. We all agreed that the meals, rooms and breakfast were the best of our trip. Our bill come to £129 for 3 nights B&B and 3 x 2 course meals - so it wasn't expensive. We will definitely be back!

My wife and I were booked for 24 & 25 August 2011, we arrived from the Stornoway - Ullapool ferry and booked in on the 24, room was nice but i noticed that the shower seemed not thermostatically controlled, we booked for bar meal at 7:30pm. came down early and studied the menu over a drink. Went to the table about 7;35 and placed order. the soup arrived (after I had asked what the holdup was) 8;10, our main course (after asking again) arrived 8:45. I asked for the manager, when the lady appeared, she said the order went to the Kitchen at 8:00 and they were running two restuarants and that everything was cooked to order, I was not happy, I mentioned about the shower as a constructive crititicism that if someone was scolded they would maybe claim them, and was assured by the Lady that every shower was thermostatically controlled, she offered a free drink and took the price of the starter from the meal, The next morning we went to breakfast and were asked what we would be doing today, we told the waitress and said we would be back at night and possibly see her tomorrow, only to be told we were marked in her book as a departure. I explained that we were booked for two nights, she said that because the room was not suitable, it was better that we left, i again for asked someone from management only to be told that he did not come in before 4:00pm, I asked for a phone number, but was told he could not be contacted. He/She could have come to our room that night and told us of their decision to ask us to leave but instead it was left to a breakfast waitress, gutless. Left disgusted.
Would not recommend my worst enemy to this establishment.

We booked into the Caledonian hotel for the next night, lovely room, good breakfast for £25 less,

We only stayed at the Arch Inn Ullapool for one night on a touring holiday in Scotland. The room was very basic but clean & comfortable but it was the most expensive of our trip with no personal involvement from the staff.

We arrived in Ullapool after a wonderful drive up the A82 from clydebank and had booked The Arch Inn as a relaxing stoppover before we caught the ferry on the saturday morning. We choose this place to say as I had enjoyed drinks in the bar on other trips and was also impressed by the website. We parked in one of the allocatted spaces right outside the entrance and "checked in" at the bar. We were shown to our room which was in an annexe across from the bar and were delighted with our room. If you look on the website which shows you a white walled room with modern bedding and furnishings well we were lucky to be given the same room. The room was spotless and had a stunning view over Loch Broom. I have read a few bad reviews about the rooms the bar and the restaurant but we had a perfect room, an enjoyable drink in the bar and a wonderful meal in the very busy and popular restaurant. The breakfast in the morning after a restful sleep was just perfect so all in all I would recommend this hotel for a great stoppover in Ullapool.
