“SO SO even for Super 8”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 June 2011

Looked like the place had been recently remodeled but that was the best part of the stay. First while trying to check inn the manager didn't even know what hotel group he was with. I asked about using my Wyndham points card and was told that they were Super 8 not Wyndham but he would sign me up for their card. Of course a few minutes later I had an email saying there was a duplicate signup for Wyndham rewards card. It would help to know what franchise you are part of. OK so then on to the rooms, well all the doors were left wide open and no AC going so every room (we had 3) were extremely hot being this was a 95 degree day in Arkansas. Surprisingly the rooms were nice and looked freshly re-done. turned on the TV and found we had very limited channel selection, now I am not looking for the works but a little more would have helped. Then tried to hook up the the internet on using the wi-fi and could not get a good signal. Tried different areas in 3 different rooms and could not connect, Did get connected using the free wi-fi from the motel across the lot. Probably should have stopped by and thanked them for having a signal good enough to work at the competitors hotel. Slept well though and the beds were comfortable and went to check out but had to wait 10 minutes just to get a receipt. All in all it is not woth the 70+ dollars per room to stay there and I would not recommend it to any travelers. There are cheaper motels and they are better in the same area.

Room Tip: To get the best room try another motel.

“Clean and affordable, yes! What?”

As a solo female traveler, I chose this hotel because the door to the room was from the inside, not the outside. I felt safer with that feature. The staff was friendly and very helpful with the reservation. The room was nicely furnished, clean, no smells. The TV had some issues with one of the channels, and the wi-fi was less than desirable -- I had to reconnect a few times. But the hotel had more positives which outweighed the few negatives. The breakfast was just fine.

The next statement has nothing to do with the review of this hotel, but to advice to travelers, you may want to check the alarm clock before you go to sleep. Someone had set the alarm to 4:30am with the volume set at maximum...could not go back to sleep with a 10+ drive ahead of me...ugh!

“Average”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 March 2011

Overall an average hotel. Clean and Quiet. Worth the price.

Pros: Good free breakfast, good price, friendly staff, has many updates, clean, smells good.

Cons: Hard old mattress; looks new and clean but it is hard and tag said it was from 1997. Its good if you need a firm mattress maybe, I still had a decent sleep on it. Everything seemed updated but the mattress and TV. I'm sure they'll do that next.
I had a do not disturb sign on my door the first day and houskeeping came in my room anyway and took my used towels from the rack and didn't leave fresh ones. I was upset they entered even though I had the sign up; I've never had this happen before and I generally always put the sign up throughout my stays. I told the man who owns the place as soon as I realised they had been in (when I went to take my shower before bed). I told him I was uncomfortable with people entering my room when I had the sign up and did not want them to. He said he'd tell housekeeping not to go in the next day. I left the sign on my door again the next day and thought it'd be fine since I also requested they not enter the room. This time housekeeping came in and cleaned my room, made my bed, and changed the towels again even though they were hanging up. I am not pleased that they entered even after I requested them not to verbally and the owner said they would not. Nothing of mine was taken but I had taken my computer the next day just in case so there was nothing of great value in there. If you stay here, just don't leave any valuables in your room. I'm not sure if housekeeping would take anything but you never know when another guest will sneak in and take something when the housekeeper's back is turned.

Wireless is spotty but there is a computer in the lobby. Not many TV channels but it has some good ones (i.e. basic channels, HBO, USA,TBS).

“Better than West Memphis”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 August 2010

I couldn't stand staying in West Memphis on my yearly cross country trek so I decided to try this instead. This hotel is conveniently located off the interstate about 40 miles west of Memphis. It is close to restaurants and other travel services. The hotel is set back far enough from the interstate to be quiet and secure. The check in was friendly, a little bit botched, but no real complaints. We were assigned a 2nd floor king room ($45 + tax - the tax is very high). I would not want to pay the regular rate of $70 and up for this hotel however for the discounted rate we paid it was a value. The room was very spacious and clean. The bedding was clean and fairly new however the mattress and pillows were not the best quality. The TV and internet were good. The AC was doing a fine job on a 100 degree day. The bathroom was clean however the towels were getting a bit worn and scratchy. There is no fridge/microwave. The coffee pot was broken. The toilet was not functioning properly.

There were waffles for breakfast but the other selections were limited and not particularly appetizing. The new trend of biscuits and gravy is not for me. Overall the breakfast was acceptable.

“OK rooms - Good Service”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 June 2010

I stayed at this hotel last summer and just now decided to review it. I will be returning to the area and am considering staying there again. I will preface the bit about mosquitoes with the fact that I noticed signs about a high level of mosquitoes so there may have been a large mosquito problem in Forrest City at the time.
I fled to this hotel after I took a good look at the other hotel in Forrest City I had booked online, which was filthy and infested with mosquitoes. The woman at the front desk was friendly and sympathetic. The rooms were clean enough, but there was a loud electrical buzzing noise in my room. Since they were all booked up, I had to wait until morning to switch to the room next door (only one available). The staff helped me move my things to a secure area and even kept my perishables refrigerated so I could go about my day and return after the room changes had been made. I could still hear the buzzing, but it was a little better. A staff member showed me newly vacated rooms the third day which had no buzzing, in case I chose to return.

Notes:
There are restaurants, a superwalmart and gas stations nearby.
Likes: safe location; helpful, friendly staff; no mosquito problem inside, average cleanliness and upkeep, wifi.
Dislikes: Significant noise problem in the two rooms I had.
