“Perfect!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 July 2011

This hotel is realy great.
Rooms are goed and clean in a house style. Terras is big and has a view over the mountains and the sea wich is realy beautiful!
Waiter are very, very nice. They were more like friends to us.
The hotel is situated between Nerja and Frigiliana near the autopista in the middle of the mountains. So this is not for familys with small children, but perfect for people who wants to walk through the area of Nerja. The walk to Nerja takes one our.
The food realy was super. Ingredients of andalusia are used. Tasting very good, day after day.

I would recomment this hotel for walker, hikers and people who has a car.
NOT for people with children and young people. Because you are in the middle of noware, but that's one of the reasons (the staf is another) I like it so much. This year we will go again!

“Only ate here but excellent”

We ate at this hotel on the recommendation of an internet site. We had a car so it was no problem getting there but it's a bit out of the way if you're not driving.
It's very typically Spanish in style, I've seen it described as dated but it's not, it's just rustic Spanish.
There was a table of four local people in the restaurant but otherwise we were the only ones there. The staff couldn't have been more efficient or friendly or helpful. Our food was delicious! It was cooked by a proper chef and you could see into the kitchen, watch what he was doing and see the cleanliness of the kitchen. We had three courses and a delicious bottle of wine (8E). The prices were average for the area but the food was of a far higher quality.
We decided to go back a couple of nights later, we pre ordered a paella for 3 of us. We could only manage 2 courses but they were both superb! The soup was to die for, both my minestrone and my husbands french onion. Our friends starters were top notch too.The paella was excellent, my friend had pork in a mustard sauce and we had two 1 litre jugs of the most delicious sangria. We also had 4 soft drinks and two baskets of bread and 2 bottles of wine vinegar to take home. Four dinners and drinks for 92E.
We only wish this restaurant was in Norfolk!!
We recommended this restaurant to other guests in our hotel and they loved it too.
Excellent food, can't wait to go back.

“Spanish Taverna - Spanish experience, food & lingo - brilliant!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 October 2009

If you are looking for a Spanish Taverna style hotel, quiet, totally Spanish cooking, a place to practice your lingo without staff automatically reverting to English, then I would recommend this hotel 200% (staff really don't speak much English at all - perfect!). A great view of the sea from all rooms & mountain ranges. Literally a 3 min drive into Nerje centre, a car is a must, but worth the peace and quite. We had breakfast included in our stay, ham, cheese, breads, cereal, tea/coffee, jam, yogurt, service until 11am. Good pressure on the showers. Very clean rooms, very pretty with beams etc. Only tiny downside was we had 2 twin beds not 1 double, as 90% of the rooms are twins. But they were together & so practically a king size really. Doubles need to be requested on reservation. Previous review suggest a sewage smells at around 7pm but we never experienced that. Can't wait to go back.

“mixed feelings”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 July 2009

I have mixed feelings about this hotel. It's reasonably priced but it has "issues." The balcony has a nice view of the countryside and the sea in a distance. You would probably need a car to enjoy Nerja, about 2 miles away. The road up to the hotel check-in is narrow and hazardous. Parking is scarce up near the hotel entrance. When we arrived, Sat at 6 PM, there was a wedding going on and the parking situation was chaotic, since there was no real place to turn around. I would strongly recommend parking down near the main road and hauling your luggage upstairs. This place seems to host a lot of group events. At these times, comfort of the residential guests seems to be secondary .Our room was simple. My biggest complaint was that the place had lots of rules -- no outside food in the room, don't use their mini-bar as a frig. Yuk! The AC seemed to be pretty iffy, also. The restaurant in the hotel was good. Staff at the desk were very nice and spoke some English.

“Great location but food & some of the staff need attention”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 June 2009

We stayed for a week and had a great time travelling the beautiful surrounding area however despite the reception staff being extremely helpful and the maids delightful, we found the two main waiters rude and sarcastic at times. The first night we arrived late & went for dinner in the hotel, I do not like steak rare & twice it was returned to me too red for my taste, i was not asked if i would like anything else & they showed their displeasure by storming off with it & i heard it slammed into the bin! Then I asked for fresh coffee at breakfast as mine was brought lukewarm and the iniital reaction was to look at his watch, follwed by ''well it will be 2 or 3 minutes'' this was at 10.30 & breakfast goes on till 11am! Also another morning my partner went to ask for tea as he wasnt there when my coffee was brought, he was told 'oh, one more?' (he hadnt had any yet) Also i asked what something was in a sachet & was told what it already said on the outside? then i was told one word 'meat' ( actually it was paste or pate) There was not enough smiles from them or politeness and other couples felt the same - one wouldnt bring a chap a coffee to the terrace as he had his girlfriend with him!!
However all the other staff were great and Statler and Waldorf didnt spoil our holiday! The only other disappointment was that the breakfast selection could have been more imaginative it was very tired and ran out quickly.
