“Extremely noisy hotel but in a good location”

This hotel is in a great location, right on the seafront and we had great hopes for it but it was just so noisy at night.. We barely got any sleep on any of the 4 nights we stayed here. We bought earplugs after our first night and they didnt even help :( The reception and bar staff are very nice and accommodating but the maids are so noisy in the mornings - you can hear toilets in rooms above and beside you flushing during the night. The doors also bang constantly, they should think about getting something on the doors to prevent this.

Breakfast is the usual continental affair with bread, meat, cheese, cereals, cold boiled eggs, yogurt...tea/coffee/orange juice. There isnt an option of ordering a hot breakfast.

The rooms are fine, there is a mini bar and telly with BBC1 & BBC2 London and a little balcony.

“Excelent location for families and business.”

This 3 star hotel exceeded my expectations, it's position is perfect for the beach and town centre with it's excelent transport services. The hotel staff are friendly and helfull, the rooms albeit a little compact have all facilities including air-con, safe, fridge, hair dryer television etc. Breakfast buffet style continental is superb with a wide selection of food and drinks.

“The best weekend of my life!!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 November 2009

DO not listen to all the reviews about rude hotel staff, it is so not true. Yes, there may be a small language barrier, but this is spain, not blackpool. From the moment we got there, we felt more relaxed than we have for a long time. It did not take long for the Staff to have us booked in and into our room. The room was big enough for our weekend break, with a fantastic view out to sea and the marina. The cleanliness was not better than any other hotel we have stayed in, whether 5 star or not.

The location is near enough perfect, quiet enough during the day and night, but close enough to find the food strip and cocktail bars with in minutes. The only down side to the whole weekend was the lucky men every second trying to sell you a bag of tricks.

All in All, this was a fantastic weekend, the best ever, We will definately be back !!!!

“Horrible receptionist.”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 November 2007

Stayed there 2 nights October 26/27. Room 208 rather small to the back side which was fine considering the rate I paid. Continental breakfast was nothing special but suited by taste.
Checked-out at 11:30 and was permitted to leave my bag in locked-up room next to the reception. Cannot fault the accomodation. Problem started when I arrived home and discovered that I left my battery/chargers behind. Calling the hotel brought no result other then getting lectured about leaving things behind and concern about shipping cost that would exceed the value of the items. (wrong.... replacement value is € 98,90) Upon my insistance they promised to check again and advise. Repetitve calls and e-mails are ignored. Filed a loss-report with the local police through their web-side who did reply 3 days later with negativ answer. Now contemplating to file a theft-report and advise the hotel owners. This receptionist is something else, to put it mildly. Hoever goes there please mention this story to them.

“Not impressed”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 October 2006

My husband and I stayed at the Villa Laredo 18 - 25 October and based on the other reviewers comments I was quite looking forward to it. However, from first contact I was not impressed. When we arrived the gentlman on reception was chatting to a friend and ignored us entirely until I said a loud 'excuse me'. We got our room keys with a grunt and after unpacking decided to take a shower but there was no hot water. When I went to reception to report this (to a new but even less motivated desk clerk) I got a shrug of the shoulders and was told it was too late to call a 'technician' (it was 4.30pm) and they'd look into it the next day. Meanwhile, cold showers all round. The next morning, after a dire breakfast of cold coffee and taseless bread, I reported the lack of hot water again and demanded another room. We were then told that it was a problem in the entire building and not just our room so they would have to move us to another building BEHIND the hotel (no view - overlooking an alley). We were offered no help with moving and had to lug all our belongings across the road in the rain. Nice start to our holiday.

Then there's the pool area on the roof. Pretty dismal stuff. The sun loungers were about as comfortable as a medieval torture rack and looked just as old. The pool was full of dead insects (which we reported but nothing was done about) so we couldn't even swim.

Also, just a small thing but annoying anyway - one morning I sat down at the PC in the lobby to check my emails, put my money in and nothing happened. I went over to the receptionist, who was looking straight at me as I did this, asked if there was an Internet problem and he said yes - it's not working. Maybe he could have told me before I put money in the slot an fiddled around with the mouse for 5 minutes!

All in all this hotel is definitely not worth the money. The most miserable staff I have ever encountered anywhere with NO concept of customer service. Stay in the PYR instead - great staff and respect for their guests.
