Just returned from a 4 night break at the Jabega (17th - 21st Jan) which was brilliant. Room was on the 9th floor with superb views of the beach and coastline. The weather was hot enough for shorts during the day but chilly enough for a coat in the evening.The room was spotless clean and had the best eqipped kitchen area I have seen in an apartment but we only used the kettle as the restaurants in the area are very cheap and provide excellent food.
We will definately return in the near future as it so well positioned close to the beach,train station and good bars and restaurants

Stayed at this Aparthotel for 7 nights early January. The location, on the sea front is very good as is the proximity of convenience shops, restaurants, pubs, bus stops etc. The apartment I occupied was on the 10th floor with a good sized sea front balcony complete with flat screen TV albeit a lack of English channels was somewhat disappointing. Cooking utensils were the bare minimum and the cutlery certainly need replacement. Whilst this establishment is reasonably good value for money it certainly looses brownie points mainly in two areas:-
1. Standard of room servicing is well below par with a daily cursory rub of a mop across the floor lasting no more than a few minutes being the only effort made by cleaning staff.

2. The indifference of Reception Staff borders on being cold and unfriendly.

Would I stay there again, well yes, but only because of it's location.

The good, the bad and the ugly!

The Good
- great location, in front of the beach
- next door to lots of shops, cheap restaurants and bars
- fantastic supermarket, Mercadona, about 100 yds from the aparthotel (please note, they deliver, too, so go when you arrive and buy all your stock of water, wine and beer as well as your bits of food. They will want to see your passport but you pay when they deliver what you have bought.)
- bus stop just round the corner for going in the direction of Malaga, another 100 yds up going to the centre of Fuengirola.
- The aparthotel is about 250 yards from the fairground where the local market is held on Tuesdays and the very good flea market is held there on Saturdays.

The Bad
- Furniture and fittings are very dated
- Bed covers and wall colours and curtains don’t match so added to the scratched furniture it makes the studios look very depressing.

The Ugly
- I have been here before and complained about the same thing in the review I wrote then. The cleaning!!!! I have been to places where cleaning was not included and it was not a problem. What you get at the Jabega under the heading of cleaning is a woman will arrive, empty the rubbish bins in kitchen area and bathroom, pull the bedcovers into shape, wets a mop in a pail of dirty water and positions the mop as near to the middle of the room as possible, (as in at least one yard from the window), and then wipes the floor 2 foot in each direction until she arrives at the front door. Note, she does not sweep so the wet mop just shoves under the bed or table or chairs anything that was in the area she was wiping. It goes without saying that any crumbs or rubbish under the chairs stays there until you leave unless you clean yourself. Bathroom is usually left untouched or she just wipes the sink a bit. Probably the women have a competion to get in the Guiness Book of Records as each one usually manages to do leave your room in less than 5 minutes.

Conclusion – All of the good things about the Jabega are to do with location therefore can be found in any aparthotel in that area of Fuengirola, and there are quite a few at similar prices. The furniture a bit dated etc is probably true of most of the other aparthotels, too. That said, I have stayed in two other aparthotels in that area and the cleaning service was 100% better in both cases. I am not a fanatic for cleaning and in my own house am quite happy to leave the cleaning for another day if I have better to do. But such dirty habits as wiping 50% of an unswept floor with dirty water drive me up the wall!

Just spent a Christmas break here and my husband and I were absolutely over the moon with the size of the studio apartment, 2 single beds which were more like small doubles, and plenty room to move about. Kitchen was a bit small, with oven, toaster and kettle all on a trolley, but we wern't there for gourmet cooking. Nightly entertainment was laid on, very nice especially nice if you like old crooners, and the bar prices were lower than most in the resort. The view in the morning when you pulled open the curtains would take your breath away, just a vast expanse of sea with the odd liner heading to Gibraltar, boy do I miss that view! We found the lifts a bit on the small side, there were 3 of them and they were supposed to hold 4 people, nice and cosy if you wanted to snuggle up to strangers. I think in the summer months you might wait a while to get one, as they were flying up and down past our floor, and when they did stop, there were already 2 people in them, so stood for 2 - 3 minutes waiting for an empty one. Already planning next Christmas visit, unfortunately no flight prices available at the moment, but we will be waiting.........
