Just returned from short 5 night break at the Angela Hotel, 25 - 30 Jan 2012. Stayed in rm 323 so we had sunshine in balcony from midday till 6pm with lovely view of beach and prom, right up towards marina and over the pool.
Hotel is not the newest on the seafront, being a little dated in decor compared to the Florida or Yaramar, but the staff were pleasant and helpful when approached, and most of the guests were very friendly. Room was spotless, and warm (as were all public areas) but while I found the bed very uncomfortable, my sister slept better than at home. Good powerful shower, and hair dryer worked well - if a little quirky.
Food was as expected for any hotel buffet - plentiful, always something to suit everyone, some things a bit cool but there are 2 microwaves if you need to give it a quick boost. Always fish on menu which was lovely and varied with large prawns and mussels too. No entertainment or bingo downstairs on Fridays or Sundays, but music 7 days upstairs. Other nights the entertainment was very good. Bingo is 3 euros a strip and only 1 game for a line then full house so over in 10 mins.
Only downside - from Scotland there are no Thomson flights until March - if you travel Easyjet, but book hotel through Thomson, expect to be ignored by Thomson rep. You won't exist on their guest lists - she actually told us we weren't really Thomson guests!. Thankfully, we didn't need her services.
Otherwise, a very enjoyable 5 days - weather hotter than expected (despite 1 day of thunderstorms & rain). Lots of the guests were there for 4 - 6 weeks and return year after year. It was my first visit to Fuengirola, and I would definitely go back again, as I only managed to visit Mijas and there are lots of other resorts close by. Mijas is worth a visit - climb up to the bullring and go inside, there's also a free museum of Mijas working history. Miramar shopping centre is good for rainy days at just 1 Euro on local bus. Would probaly not return to the Angela though at this time of year, as I was one of the youngest there at 58!
