Just back from a week at this hotel it was my husband and my fith time but my sister and her husbands first and the weather was very good if we kept out of the breeze, but we took the hotels bowls and went down to the beach for a game which was good fun, also played table tennis (badly). The food was good although if you are going to go full board it did appear to be the samr meals at lunch and dinner (no real complaint about this) But the dinning room staff
seem very unhappy although I have to say they are rushed of their feet. But the bar staff are very happy even joining in the line danceing.Yes this hotel is full of older people but cant see as that matters the rooms, food and happy four hours are great no matter what your age. Only gripe this year would be the extra money for a room on the sunny side and the baths being replaced with showers (but can understand why) Would return again for last bit of summer sun
prob october and would pay the extra to have room on sunny side.

Room Tip: email the hotel before you go and ask for room sunny side and tell them you will pay the extra on a...

“Friendly guests - pleasant week too!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 January 2012

Just returned from short 5 night break at the Angela Hotel, 25 - 30 Jan 2012. Stayed in rm 323 so we had sunshine in balcony from midday till 6pm with lovely view of beach and prom, right up towards marina and over the pool.

Hotel is not the newest on the seafront, being a little dated in decor compared to the Florida or Yaramar, but the staff were pleasant and helpful when approached, and most of the guests were very friendly. Room was spotless, and warm (as were all public areas) but while I found the bed very uncomfortable, my sister slept better than at home. Good powerful shower, and hair dryer worked well - if a little quirky.

Food was as expected for any hotel buffet - plentiful, always something to suit everyone, some things a bit cool but there are 2 microwaves if you need to give it a quick boost. Always fish on menu which was lovely and varied with large prawns and mussels too. No entertainment or bingo downstairs on Fridays or Sundays, but music 7 days upstairs. Other nights the entertainment was very good. Bingo is 3 euros a strip and only 1 game for a line then full house so over in 10 mins.

Only downside - from Scotland there are no Thomson flights until March - if you travel Easyjet, but book hotel through Thomson, expect to be ignored by Thomson rep. You won't exist on their guest lists - she actually told us we weren't really Thomson guests!. Thankfully, we didn't need her services.

Otherwise, a very enjoyable 5 days - weather hotter than expected (despite 1 day of thunderstorms & rain). Lots of the guests were there for 4 - 6 weeks and return year after year. It was my first visit to Fuengirola, and I would definitely go back again, as I only managed to visit Mijas and there are lots of other resorts close by. Mijas is worth a visit - climb up to the bullring and go inside, there's also a free museum of Mijas working history. Miramar shopping centre is good for rainy days at just 1 Euro on local bus. Would probaly not return to the Angela though at this time of year, as I was one of the youngest there at 58!

Room Tip: Rooms ending in 16 - 24 all have balconies facing the sun till sunset. Go to highest available room...

Stayed at the angela 22nd - 29th January. Had an excellent week we were on half board The variety and amount of food was excellent. Enetertainment very good (my girlfriend won £150
on Bingo] Staff very friendly and keen to help. Happy hour was 7.30pm. to 11.30pm 2 glasses of wine and 2 g and ts for 7 Euros. Having read reviews we tried to get room l25 but
actually got 121 which was just as good we had the sun from about 10am to about 5.30pm.
The bathroom very good plenty of hot water. A free safe was provided and also free
sunbed towels. If needed fridge hire was about 16 euros a week. The TV had numerous channels including most of the UK channels. Outdoor pool was heated. Large sun deck and
snack bar on the same level. The proverbial spanish market was on tuesday flea market on
a Saturday. Transport by train or bus very good All rooms have hairdryers and AC would certainly recommend this hotel and would go again
PS The weather was very good as well !!!!!

Room Tip: The best rooms for most sun end in 24 or 25 that is 124 224 324 etc the higher the floor the more...

“A FISHY REVIEW”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 January 2012

My wife and I have just returned from a fabulous week in the Hotel Angelo where we had a most enjoyable time. We were on a full board basis and despite running for 45 miles during the week and walking another 40, I still managed to put on seven pounds in weight. The food was excellent with a good mixture of English and Spanish dishes but the highlights were the fish dishes of which there were at least two at each lunch and dinner and in additionally there were always seafood salads on offer. The fish were, without exception, wonderful and included Hake, Plaice, Swordfish, Salmon, Grouper, Sole, Tuna and Sea Bass. Bottles of excellent house wine are available in the restaurant for only 4 Euros.

The hotel staff were very efficient. On arrival we were allocated our room in seconds, the restaurant staff were speedy and obliging and the cleaners friendly and thorough. There are lots of sunbeds in the sun terrace and the garden and reserving them with towels is not allowed. There is an outdoor HEATED swimming pool which is excellent in the winter months.

There is entertainment every evening including dancing and bingo and this is supplemented by a happy hour for drink prices which lasts the whole of the evening.

The hotel is located on the promenade and is halfway between the castle and the edge of Benelmadena. Los Boliches railway station is a ten minute walk away and provides a very cheap link direct to Malaga airport at just 2.20 Euros per adult single. The journey takes 35 minutes and their is a train every 20 minutes.

The hotel is close to local bars, restaurants and supermarkets and the weekly market is held every Tuesday within a five minute walk behind the hotel. The hotel is gradually being updated but, although a little dated in places, the accommodation is still of a high standard and each room has a free safe.

Whilst many people have minor moans about the hotel, overall it is an excellent place for an enjoyable break.

Room Tip: Rooms on the west side benefit from sunny balconies all year round.
