I've stayed in many country house hotels but this is the first that compelled me to write a review. All of the other comments are true and more. My family (mother and two sisters) spent the penultimate night of our 2 week holiday at Clone House. We were seeking a special environment in which to celebrate the end of our travel and my mother's 82nd birthday. Clone House did not disappoint. Everything was beyond lovely...the friendly hosts, the spotless and thoughtfully appointed rooms--each of them unique in furnishings and design--and the understated elegance that seems to permeate the place. Best of all were the dining experiences. In the evening we dined by candlelight with fellow house guests whose company was only eclipsed by the multi-course meal we enjoyed together. Drinks before/after dinner in the drawing room (including a peat fire) served to bookend the evening. The next morning we were treated to a full Irish breakfast including homemade breads, scones, and farm-raised eggs. Our hosts were attentive, gracious and accomodating. It was just about perfect. Like another reviewer, I hope that Clone House remains a hidden gem so that we may return unimpeded in the future and enjoy its impeccable hospitality.
