“Cordial and welcoming - the manor house and the hosts!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 November 2010

Warwick and Anne O'Hara are the lovely hosts, and they made us feel welcome and at home upon our arrival. Warwick brings a lot of family history to the task - his family has owned the estate since around 1859, and the family portraits trace the decades. The house is not modern (I think a prior reviewer may have used the term “faded elegance”), but we were not looking for shine-and-sparkle; personality, atmosphere and character are much more interesting to us, and Mornington did not disappoint. We enjoyed one dinner in the spacious dining room under the glow of lit silver candelabras, and the food was of gourmet quality. Our breakfasts were similarly wonderful. It was our good fortune that Mornington was not busy at the time of our visit, so our hosts had time to spend with us to chat and offer local commentary and advice. In a nutshell, we consider our visit there to have been a treat.

“Silence and the best breakfast in Ireland”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 October 2010

Great directions to get us to this hidden hideaway. A warm welcome in the drawing room. Lovely comfortable bedroom, with en suite bathroom. Warwick and Ann O'Hara are great hosts. We ate out as they don't serve dinner on a Sunday - a wonderful restaurant 5 miles away.

Silence was the only sound. BLISS.

Breakfast was wonderful - and filled us for the entire day of sightseeing and exploring ireland to the west.

Thank You

“Beautiful, relaxing home is like stepping back in time.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 August 2010

We have had two week long stays at Mornington house over the past two years. It has been consistently terrific. Warwick and Anne are wonderful hosts who make you feel like family. The rooms are very comfortable with good beds and nice baths/showers. The breakfasts are amazing. We only had one dinner at Mornington since we usually eat with family who live in the area. That one dinner was terrific. The setting of Mornington House is very private and quiet with beautiful gardens. The house is gorgeous and full of antiques, art work and family photos. You do feel like you have stepped back in time. West Meath isn't the biggest tourist destination but I think people are missing out. There are many things to see and do in this area and the people are very friendly. You won't be disappointed if you visit Mornington House. We intend to go back again.

“An absolute find, excellent hospitality from start to finish.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 May 2010

From the gentle warmth from Warwick to the delicious cooking of Anne. Superb produce, food and wine terrific. From the dining rooms to the bedrooms, it almost felt like being in a game of Cluedo (without the weapons). Thumbs up on all fronts.

“Beautiful Home with Excellent Hosts”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 October 2009

We stayed at Mornington on our last two nights in Ireland after 16 days. It was a wonderful way to end a great holiday. The house and property are stunning and decorated in a beautifully classic style. Warwick and Anne, the owners, are delights to chat with and make a delicious breakfast. You are welcomed with tea and made to feel at home immediately. We ate both nights, at a local pub, in the village - fantastic food at terrific prices. Take a walk around the grounds and down to the lake. Explore the villages and the countryside. It was hard to leave!
