“Superb!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 October 2011

As a regular visitor to 'Hidden Ireland' houses, Morningtons owners Warwick and Anne are the best hosts we've encountered. Their warmth and hospitality are second to none, the food (especially Anne's baking), the accomodation, the ambiance, the peaceful setting all contribute to a wonderfully relaxing and rejuvenating experience. We would highly recommend Mornington for a great country break.

“Right out of Masterpiece Theatre"”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 September 2011

If you have ever watched Masterpiece Theatre on American TV, and dreamed about living in the beautiful houses and gardens shown there, that dream can come true. Mornington House is set in the Irish countryside, with all the beauty of centuries ago...and modern bathrooms. Large, comfortable rooms and perfect peace. If you have to be wired to everything, this is not the place for you. Yet it's not far from good restaurants and the delightful hosts will have reliable suggestions. Quite magical.

“Mornington House, and Warwick and Anne O'Hara are the best!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 July 2011

The location was particularly scenic and lovely, the house was historic and charming, and the hosts, Anne and Warwick, were absolutely the best. I would return to Mornington House in a heartbeat!

“Peaceful country elegance”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 July 2011

person found this review helpful

Charming 19th century “big house” built by the current owners’ ancestors. Large, well appointed rooms, good shower, peaceful location and pastoral countryside. Owners were very knowledgeable about the area and offered good suggestions for food and sightseeing. Mornington House is affiliated with Hidden Ireland, all historic homes that provide bed and breakfast accommodations. Only an hour drive from Dublin, but it feels like it’s in another world. Perfect break from the bustle and crowds of the city! Free wireless in entryway.

“Cordial and welcoming - the manor house and the hosts!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 November 2010

Warwick and Anne O'Hara are the lovely hosts, and they made us feel welcome and at home upon our arrival. Warwick brings a lot of family history to the task - his family has owned the estate since around 1859, and the family portraits trace the decades. The house is not modern (I think a prior reviewer may have used the term “faded elegance”), but we were not looking for shine-and-sparkle; personality, atmosphere and character are much more interesting to us, and Mornington did not disappoint. We enjoyed one dinner in the spacious dining room under the glow of lit silver candelabras, and the food was of gourmet quality. Our breakfasts were similarly wonderful. It was our good fortune that Mornington was not busy at the time of our visit, so our hosts had time to spend with us to chat and offer local commentary and advice. In a nutshell, we consider our visit there to have been a treat.
