Had heard Concra Wood was a must to play so decided to have a short break and stayed in the Glencarn Hotel.

The course was truely outstanding and I would return anyday, The members should count themselves very lucky to have one of the best courses in the country on their doorstep, The hotel topped off a perfect trip from the minute we arrived the hospitality, food and service really made us feel at home and I cant wait to return.

Myself and 19 other golfers had a recent Golf break at the Glencarn Hotel in Castleblayney. Our accommodation was clean and comfortable and the food was excellent. This was our second visit to the Hotel and everybody in our group of 20 was delighted with the friendliness and service received from the staff. They were also delighted with the Golf arranged at Concra Wood and Mannan Castle. We also enjoyed the leisure facilities at the Hotel.

“A golfing weekend in Castleblayney”

We stayed at your hotel on the last weekend in September on a golfing weekend. There was 16 of us and we played Concra Wood on both the Fri & Sat. Unfortunately the weather wasn't kind to us, as we got a soaking on the Friday and a few showers on the Saturday. The downpour that occured on the Friday was so bad that at any other venue, play on the Sat would have surely been cancelled, but the course at Concra was up to taking the amount of rain that fell and play on the Saturday was guaranteed.

When we got back to the hotel on the Friday after being soaked, the staff made available to us one of their function rooms so all 16 of us could take all our bags, clubs, raingear, etc, etc, in to dry. This was brilliant as all our gear was bone dry the following morning and enabled us to play in comfort on the Sat, top marks to the Glencarn staff.

The hotel itself was ideal for us. The rooms were clean, with all the mod cons you'd expect to find in a good hotel. The food was excellent, particularly at our group meal on the Sat evening. Most if not all the lads commented on the quality and quantity of food dished out to us. The breakfasts were "proper" breakfasts, again plenty on the plate and good quality food.

I wouldn't hesitate to recommend the Glencarn as somewhere to stay, particularly if you're thinking of playing golf in the area.

“Great friendly place”

I stayed at this place for work, it was a great relief to come back to a traditional Irish hospitality, after a relaxing bath down to the bar for dinner, the bar was quiet but the food was served with a smile and a chat inbetween courses, breakfast is great too.
Guiness every time!
