Yes, we toured the "official" gardens of Ireland, but the loveliest of all was the one Mary Anderson grows, surrounding her home and B&B.
We fortuitously stumbled across her B&B on a back road of Killybegs and were quite glad she still had one triple room available. Mary and her husband, Rob, are delightful people, very easy and interesting to converse with. The room was very comfortable, the water pressure in the shower excellent, and breakfast delicious and filling. Mary pointed out a footpath that runs from her road into Killybegs, where we had dinner and strolled about the working harbor. Both Mary and Rob had lots of information about the area and their recommendations were most helpful. She is modest about her gardening skills, but she is obviously hardworking and talented in that area, as well as the running of her B&B. From the overflowing window boxes to the perennial borders surrounding her home, every flower was in the peak of condition. Given how nice our stay was though, I'd go back in a heartbeat - even in winter.
