We spent one night here and, to be honest, wondered what we'd booked into when we saw the little hut like rooms. The owner is lovely and friendly, the views are beautiful and the rooms themselves were a real surprise. I can see where the previous reviewer is coming from as we had a fridge, microwave and kettle but no plates or utensils to eat a meal. However we had already planned on eating out so that wasn't a problem for us. We'd asked the owner if he recommended anywhere and he told us about Guesthouse Egilsstadir - if you're in the area this is the place to eat, we had lamb which could only be described as amazing. No surprise that we returned for breakfast! A lovely drive from Egilsstadir is over the mountains to Seydisfjordur, a small town in a narrow fjord with beautiful coloured houses reflected in the water. If you go there look out for Skaftfell Bistro, which is up behind the ferry terminal, where we had the best (and cheapest) coffee and cake of the holiday !

We, a family of 3, stayed at this "hotel" for one night during a 2 week tour of Iceland. First of all the description on the website implies that this is a self catering hotel. It provided us with neither self catering faciliites or was it an hotel. The accomodation unit consists of 6 rooms equiped for sleeping overnight and perhaps making tea or coffee. When we arrived we questioned the "self catering facilites" and the guy who dealt with us brought a microwave but equipment wise there was only one bowl and one spoon, no plates or forks or knives were provided. There were only 2 cups and and electic kettle to boil water. The guy who dealt with us was clarly uninterested, he had been paid in advance and we had to take the room as it was too late to do otherwise. The cleaning products for the was basin and the shower were empty - so much for "daily replenishment" This was without question the worst place we stayed in in Iceland. it was also expensive by comparison. A Foss Hotel with breakfast and better rooms was cheaper and the facilities better. Finally the TV did not work there was no DVD.We had to eat out - there was no choice.

The owner was great! He checked the weather and road conditions for us.
Rooms were clean, well-equipped.
Only stayed one night, but couldn't ask for a better one.
Definitely would recommend this if you're passing through the area.

Great setting in the wilderness, the owner is fantastic and the rooms are well equipped--- very nice fittings. Will not be disappointed if you stay here!
