We stayed for one night at the Hotel Vinland in August 2011.
The location of the hotel is nice, outside town centre of Egilsstadir and not really hard to find if you take a look at the internet before you drive there.
The room is one of six in a little building. Three of the rooms (no. 1-3) face downhill which we thought to be better, the other three (no. 4-6) face uphill toward the owners' house. If you follow the sign "reception" on arrival you will find yourself in the middle of a total mess in a kind of garage of the owner's private house just 50 metres up the hill from there, which we found to be really strange and not very inviting. The room itself was good, providing a bed, a desk and two chairs. The toilet, however, was not clean. There was no hair dryer in the room, which we found to be very inconvenient -yes, it was summer, but we wanted to leave for dinner just after having a shower and then had to wait for quite a while for our hair to get air-dried. One of us woke up in the early morning and could hardly find sleep again because of a kind of crackling sound all around. When sitting outside for a morning coffee later we though it could originate from the corrugated iron sheeting of the building getting warmed up from the sun shining on it.
All in all, we would not return here.
