As a group of 10 family members we were offered to rent a separate house (owned by the same family that owns the guesthouse and cottages) about a 5-minute drive from the main facility. The house is located in a residential neighborhood on the outskirts of Egilsstaðir. It has two levels and enough bedrooms and beds for 10 people. The kitchen was large and and the living room was comfortable and spacious. The bathrooms were clean and modern. We had to drive to the main facility for meals. The meals were mediocre at best. We had much better dinners during our Iceland trip and also experienced breakfasts that had more variety.

Out of 8 nights of staying different places during ring road trip, i would say Guesthouse Eyvindará is the best among all. Simply because the owner, Sibba is very friendly. We had a pleasant stay on 1st May 2011. The guesthouse is in good decent condition, good breakfast provided, but come with reasonable price. What more u could ask for?
one simple suggestion is the wifi signal could be improved. :)

We stayed here for one night on a self-drive tour of Iceland. The owner was very welcoming and friendly -- she seemed happy to have us as guests. The farm has some small wood cottages, but we stayed in what appeared to be a row of newly constructed guest rooms. The room itself was very nicely appointed and the bathroom was nice as well. The bathroom light turned on automatically when you stood on the tiles outside the bathroom door; the owner seemed quite proud of this feature! The room had a binder of information about the area that was very comprehensive. Breakfast was included, and was substantial and tasty. The only complaint was that the frosted glass door of our room let in the midnight sun -- make sure that you bring an eyemask. This guesthouse was one of the stops on our 9 day ring road self-drive tour (arranged by Ingi at the excellent touris company), and it was our favorite guesthouse on our trip -- mostly because of the friendly owner!

Make sure to drive over the mountains to Seydisfjordur -- it takes less then a half hour (in good weather) and both the drive and the town are spectacularly beautiful. We had a good dinner in the Skaftfell restaurant and cultural center in Seydisfjordur in the company of about 25 Icelandic motorcyclists who stopped in for a hot chocolate.
