Having read prior reviews before writing my own, I am wondering if this hotel is newly built. It looked fresh and new. The things previous reviewers found wrong or not working had evidently been corrected as of our stay in June 2010. There is no wi-fi, but I don’t expect this everywhere, and there is so much to see at Meteora that we didn't miss it. There was internet, though, at a station in the public space. We were with a small group (24 people), with Overseas Adventure Travel for a two-night stay. The setting couldn't have been better, with a panoramic view of the rock pinnacles of Meteora. The changing light of day into evening turned the pinnacles into quite a light show. We had a good dinner, lovely large breakfast buffet--but we were told by our guide that the hotel only serves dinner when a group is in residence, but this I can't confirm. The pool area was bright and cheerful with red geraniums. Everything had a fresh, white-washed look. There was an openess and spaciousness to the public spaces that was very refreshing after the small size of city hotel spaces. Yes, a child's toys were in evidence behind the lobby desk, but it just added character in our view. There were indeed chairs on the balcony, two, and a nice little table to hold my tea, which I ordered up every evening at the bar, and which was served with a pretty teapot and matching cup and saucer on a tray that I carried to our room. Watching twilight fade into night from the balcony was lovely. This hotel is off the beaten path, a short drive from Kalambaka, so for those wanting to walk out into town in the evening, you would have to drive. It was a comfortable stay. I don't know its value for the money, as our trip was paid in one lump sum, so we didn't know the prices of any of our hotels. There seemed to be very little staff at the hotel, yet services were done in a timely manner, and we had no complaints. It almost felt as if you were staying in someone's lovely, large timber and tile and whitewashed house. The hotel had a feeling of tranquility, almost of monastic peace. Open, spare, uncrowded. I liked it. I would stay there again if just for the view. When rating using the check-box bit, I reserved 5's for hotels like the Ritz, so my three's are not bad ratings.
