While searching for a place to spend 2 nights in Ribe, we were stuck. It seemed like every place we checked either had negative reviews or was priced very high-or both. We finally booked at the Bjerrumgaard Bed & Breakfast, and it turned out to be the hidden jewel of our trip to Denmark.
The B&B is about a 5 minute drive through 3 roundabouts as you leave Ribe. I think you could walk to Ribe in maybe 15 minutes or so, but check that out before counting on it. Bjerrumgaard has about 7 or 8 rooms on a newly decorated facility. The rooms run down a wide hall on the ground floor, and each room has a wall of glass windows and door that face out to the open space on the west. Through the door you can walk out to a small patio where lawn furniture awaits. There's a manicured lawn area witha putting green, and an unending view from there over the open space, leading out to the water. The views face west so we got to see the midnight sun in early June.
Our room was large, and decorated in modern Danish style with simple but useful lighting and other features. The bathroom worked well (they could use a shelf or two to put things) and so did the shower. The facility is off the main road, but far enough so that we couldn't hear any road noise-the rooms are thoughtfully on the other side of the building. We slept well as the feeling was quiet and peaceful.
The owners were sweet and very helpful, Breakfast was simple and tasty.
This was a very nice place to stay and a good deal too, costing about half the price of the hotels in Ribe we had considered. I wish every new place we went into was this nice.
