“still great even 18 years later!”

We stayed at Las Caletas in 1994 and finally had a chance to return in January. This place was still just as wonderful as it was all those years ago. The staff and Jolanda were friendly and helpful, the food was tasty, the sleeping space comfy, and nice birding from the lawn. Couldn't ask for more. Oh, and they served the best coffee we had during our 3 weeks in Costa Rica!

My wife, 4 year ol d aughter and I just spent a wonderul week at Las Caletas staying in the Duplex accomodation. It really is a well run place, all our transfers ran smoothly, tours were excellent, staff friendly, professional and eager to please without getting in your face, the setting as so many others have commented is wonderful and I can truly say all the stresses of life just ebb away as you sit and look at the wonderful beaches or walk along the wonderful coastline. We enjoyed eth tours and Jose was an informative and friendly guide. Our duplex room was very nice and had wonderful views from the open windows and balcony upstairs. If you are looking for the "real Costa Rica Pure Vida" Las Caletas is yoru dream come through. We live in San Jose so will be coming back.

“Best in the area!”

We were very fortunate to spend a week over the holiday season with our family at Las Caletas. We love Costa Rica- everything about it- and this was our third time in Drake Bay. We have stayed in 5 other lodges in the Drake Bay area, and Las Caletas is by far the best. Everything ran smoothly, from land and boat transfers, to daily tours, to everyday living around the lodge. Our children are in their early 20's and never ran out of things to do. In particular we enjoyed our tours with Jose. He is such a great personality and has a wealth of knowledge about the local flora and fauna. What a great trip. I am already trying to figure out how I can make it back there!

“A Rare Treat”

I absolutely loved staying at Las Caletas. We stayed for four nights in early Jan 2012. The surroundings were peaceful, casual, with a feeling of adventure. We stayed in a tent that I would call luxury camping. The tent was on a platform with a double queen size bed inside it, headboard, lounge chairs - not your average camping trip. The view from the open air dining lounge had us whale watching with our morning coffee and bird watching with a beer after a long day of adventure in the forest or on the ocean. David, the owner, and all the staff were such gracious and helpful hosts. Jose, the guide for all the excursions, was so knowledgeable and possessed a good sense of humour. We were able to experience so much from this special place. Jose showed us so many creatures that go beep, peep, and buzz. The sheer volume of life forms on the Osa Peninsula is dazzling. The food was great - lots of fresh fruit and home cooked meals. I also really enjoyed the type of traveler attracted to Las Caletas. The guests were from all over the world and came with an attitude of adventure. Since the lodge has only a limited number of rooms, the opportunity to talk with other guests at meal times or after a day in the forest was a highlight of the day. The guests were generally well educated and well traveled. I appreciated this. Traveling not only broadens your mind but also lengthens the conversation. I would highly recommend a stay at Las Caletas.

“Heaven!”

My first time to see the ocean. All I have to say this was the most beautiful place to stay. We stayed in the tent camp for 4 days. It was so exciting and thrilling to be woken up by howler monkeys. The scenery was spectacular. The owners of the lodge were amazing. Very informative, smart, witty, and very pleasant. They made you feel like a part of the family. We were very active throughout our stay. If you like family and fun with your choice of fun and thrills, go to Las Caletas, where heaven is your front door!!!!
