“Nice facility, but questionable business practices”

I used this hotel during a recent business trip to Phoenix. At check-in, I was surprised to learn that I would have to pay an additional $24 to connect the phone service to my room. I chose not to pay, and didn't use the phone in my room -- quite an inconvenience.

Overall, I'd say that the Holiday Inn Phoenix Midtown is a nice enough looking facility, but has some questionable business practices.

“worst hotel in the west coast”

I did a priceline bid winning $32 per night plus tax and fees for two nights. It was two nights too longs. Room in the back of the hotel, no ice in the ice machines, AC worked, but sounded like I was on a jet, room was worn and bathroom had cracks in the tile and had a look of back in the late 70's and had not been renovated since. Stay away from this place, it is the dumps of dumps.

“great place to stay!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 May 2005

I booked this hotel through Priceline, and after reading a couple of negative reviews was a little apprehensive, wondering what kind of "dump" it would be (according to the reviews). I have to say I was pleasantly surprised to find that the staff was courteous and helpful, the room was clean and well-kept, as were the pool area and exercise room. It was a very comfortable place to stay, quiet on a Saturday night, and in a good location. If you're going to Phoenix I would recommend this hotel, and won't hesitate to stay there again.

“Not bad if you get a good online rate”

This hotel has a number of rooms which face a bare wall and have NO view; the wall is literally just a few feet from the window in some rooms. Buyer beware, ask for an unobstructed room or you'll be sittin' in the dark! Other than that, it's a decent middle of the road hotel if you get a good rate; don't pay over $70 on Priceline.

“Satisfactory”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 March 2004

This Holiday Inn has a fairly convenient location in a good neighbourhood near the Heard Museum (not quite walking distance but the Heard has free parking). The exterior is nothing special, but our room was just fine. No amenities such as coffee, etc., but the restaurant in the parking lot provided a good dinner and breakfast at a reasonable price.

The Botanical Garden in Papago Park - worth a trip even if you aren't into gardens - was an easy drive down Central and along Van Buren.
