We stayed here in November before embarking on our cruise to Antarctica. The hotel has two storeys, and the rooms are spacious indeed. The hotel is, however, located quite a distance away from the city centre and it takes a taxi ride of about 25 Pesos to get to town. It has to be mentioned that the hotel does provide free shuttle services to the town. The shuttle van is relatively small and not really frequent. Most of the time, we found ourselves taking a taxi instead of the shuttle service.

A great plus point for the hotel is that it offers great views over the beagle channel. A nice walk from the hotel will take you to the beach front. The breakfast is also quite hearty, and the hotel offers free wireless internet in the lobby. We found the strength of the connection to be quite weak though.

If I were to return to Ushuaia, I'd probably choose another hotel closer to town. But for the absolute nature lover, this is the place to stay!

My wife and I stayed here for 2 nights prior our cruise to Antartica. The hotel was chosen by the cruise company, not by us. Having said that, our overall experience was good.

1. Service. The staff were friendly, especially in the restaurant. We had a waiter who was really pleasant and went out of his way to make sure we were comfortable.

2. Location. It is out of town with a great view of the Beagle Channel. Can't really walk to town, but they have free shuttles every couple of hours... and a taxi ride was only $US 5.00 each way, if that.

3. Rooms. Large, comfortable, quite rustic in appearance. Beds could be a little more comfortable. Often, we heard noise coming from the hallway at night. Most of the time, the rooms/hallways were too warm. Free Wifi... a little slow at times.

4. Restaurant. Basic breakfast which was good for me (not a bacon and eggs kinda guy). Dinner was great... the food was good and service was excellent.

Overall, we had a good experience here. If we do go back to Ushuaia, we might stay somewhere else for a change of scenery and to be closer to town. But no complaints... Hotel Los Nires was a good place to stay.

The hotel is a two story building with a metal roof situated 4-5km from the centre of the town. There is a shuttle bus running to and from town several times a day free of charge.

The location commands views across the Beagle Channel or the mountains depending on which side your room is.

The room was large with a big bed, DVD player, old CRT TV, mini bar, safe and 2 large built in wardrobes. En suite bathroom has a shower over the bath and rather poor selection of toiletries (in sachets!). Good connectivity to the free Wi Fi.

Only stayed the one night, breakfast was awful, warm milk, little selection of anything, watery juice.

Car parking available on sight.

My son and I stayed here for two nights prior to an Antarctic cruise. The hotel was chosen by the cruise company, and we added an additional day at the beginning. As others have noted, the location is away from the center of town, but to me this was not a drawback. The free shuttle service runs often enough that you can go to and from town almost any time, and at other times taxis are plentiful and inexpensive. The hotel staff are always happy to call one for you. The staff, in fact, are very helpful with everything. During our cruise, we realized that we had left a camera charger behind. When we returned to Ushuaia, we phoned the hotel to see if they had it. Sure enough, they did, and we were able to retrieve it.

The room was spacious, and the view of the Beagle Channel was wonderful. We weren't as crazy about the restaurant as some people, but I'm sure that's simply a matter of personal preference. My only real complaint was that the room was a bit noisy. Hallway sounds carried readily into the room, but more disturbing was the fact that sounds from our neighbors were very easily heard through the adjoining door. We could even hear snoring. Other than the noise issue, however, I have no complaints. If you have quiet neighbors, the rustic and scenic setting, combined with the excellent and friendly staff, make this hotel a very good choice.
