We were here in January for two days and we found this hotel very good. The room was spacious with a fantastic view on the Beagle Channel, very clean and warm. The breakfast was ok, not wonderful but enough good. The staff was very kind and ready to suggest and to help us.
Armando was very nice to us.
Wonderful choice to stay here!

An old hotel desperately in need of an update.
The staff are reasonably helpful.
The bedrooms are decrepit & have uncomfortable beds.
The food in the restaurant was awful.

We stayed here for two nights when our Antarctic cruise was cancelled. The views from the rooms facing the Beagle Channel are wonderful. The staff are helpful and courteous, but English is a very real problem for them. The rooms were comfortable and the food was reasonable. There is no same day laundry facility and changing money is a bit of a hit and miss affair. The taxi’s into the city centre are easily obtainable and it takes about 10 mins. Well worth staying out of town rather than in the noisy Ushuaie city centre, which we had previously done for 3 days.

Like many other reviewers I stayed prior to an Antarctic cruise so didn't choose the place (but paid handsomely for extra nights). It really is a long way from town. Unlike other reviewers, I was told the shuttle wasn't running while I was there -- and although taxis are cheap enough, they're inconvenient and require a constant supply of about the right change (taxi drivers don't like 100 peso bills)

The breakfast was good with lovely fresh orange juice, but the kitchen doesn't seem set up for large groups in the evening and there was a long wait. The gin & tonics were, however, a generous measure and they made the wait more tolerable.

The wifi is free but best at either end of the hotel (i.e. not in the middle) and not very fast if lots of people are using it. There are good views from half the rooms facing the Beagle Channel, and less good views from the others.

Although the public areas are non-smoking free, the rooms are not and when I arrived my room was very smokey. the staff were happy to move me, but later had to move back and the room was still smokey, presumably despite attempts to clean and air it.

Overall, I wouldn't choose to go back.
