“Bland, but clean and efficient.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 February 2011

We were booked into the Edelweiss as part of a package for 3 nights out of Buenos Aires. The hotel is friendly, efficient, clean and centrally located. It's also bland--a place bus tours use--and thus utilitarian rather than luxurious.

Our room was in the 'superior' (middle) category, so was spacious, with a partial view of the beautiful lake Bariloche is famous for. This came with street noise when the window was open--desirable on a warm day siince there's no air conditioning. The furniture is up-to-date, with two double beds on the firm side.

Breakfast was included but mediocre (remember the tour buses), the wi-fi was up and down (mostly down) and the television offered only one English-language channel, a version of CNN that seemed mostly sports.

If you have a car or don't want to be in the town, the road along the lake (Bustillo) has many more interesting-looking options. Recommended as a basic choice for accommodation near the centre of Bariloche.

“Best High End in Bariloche”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 February 2011

This place is tops. For those looking for the best place to stay for about the price of an average-nice hotel in the US, this is the place. The staff are impeccable. I can't say enough about the service and what a difference it made to our trip to Argentina. Especially one front desk man, Jorge. We really appreciated the customer service, which is generally a bit missing in Argentina. The location is perfect for everything. Rooms start at about $170USD.

“keeping appearances”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 December 2010

we spent two nights at the hotel as part of the lake crossing from Chile, a prepaid package. this was the only hotel in Bariloche our travel agent offer us.there is a great contrast between the public areas and the room we got. he exterior is lovely, the lobby and bar look nice, the receptionist was friendly and smiling. she told us that we had a standad double room with a cama matrimonial".
we stepped from the elevator in the fifth floor to a shabby and dull hallway. and were shown a room in the back of the hotel, facing another building. the room was tiny, very narrow and depressing.the furniture was outdated, there were cracks in the bathroom tiles, but the worst was the narrow bed, in other hotels is called a tween bed. not suitable for a couple, but for a single . Itold the friendly receptionist, there is a mistake but she told me that it is a matrimonial bed. . she offered to move us to a room with two individual beds that were suitable for a ten year old child.
I have to admit that the breakfast was OK, we had a light meal in the bar that was also OK. only the standard rooms doesnt meet the level expected it was as in a two stars hotel. . perhaps there are better rooms in the hotel.
Thats the reason I called the Edalweiss hotel KEEPING APPEARANCES.

“We recomended, staff very attencious”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 December 2010

We stayed 3 days at edelweiss in august, after a extenuant research in internet, Jorge(frontdesk) is great, Enrique the driver(remissero) who pickup us at airport and other scapes is very helpfull and give us a very honest($) service. The room with a lake view is quiet because the antiaccustic windows fix the traffic noise from streeet. The sauna/massage/spa ambient is clean and offer a great relax. If you travel by argentina(4/5starshotles) you know this class of staff attention is superb, we mean, doesn't matter how much you pay for be there or the staff have or haven't this hospitality and education level. The waiter service in all argentina it's a case apart....of wait, good trip for all

Staff not overly friendly or helpful. Small town, but room was facing one of the main, busy streets in town. Needed window open for cool, fresh air, but had to keep it shut due to the noise.
