“A great surprise, will definitely be back when visiting Bariloche”

The hotel is very well located, just a few blocks from the center of Bariloche, so one can get to the main parts of town in less than 5 mins., but it's conveniently located up a couple of streets, so that one doesn't get to hear any cars passing. No traffic noise or otherwise.

Room was clean and comfortable, with a great view of the Nahuel Huapi lake and of the Bariloche city itself. Heating was great, which during winter time is important, since the weather in Bariloche can get really cold.

Personnel was very friendly and helpful at all times. The owner of the hotel even lent me a portable calculator which I needed at the last minute for a meeting. Really, can't ask for a more helpful attitude.

One thing to keep in mind is that there's no elevator, so those carrying a number of big suitcases would do well in reserve rooms on the first floor if available. I was helped with mine to the second floor, so it's not a problem either.

The hotel has a breakfast service, but not a restaurant. So keep in mind you'll need to go out to other Bariloche restaurants to get lunch and dinner.

To sum it up: I had a great time and will definitely come back to the View Hotel when I visit Bariloche.

Room Tip: Those with light sleep may want to request a room away from the stairs. During breakfast time if som...

“Good hotel, amazing view”

My friend and I traveled to Bariloche before we went to Buenos Aires because we wanted a taste of the Patagonia region. We were not disappointed. I read some reviews before I left that completely dissed the hotel (although most are favorable) and I have to say that if you want to be in a friendly, clean, well priced, and with a great view of the lake, this is the hotel for you.

Ignacio, the owner, is very helpful and can communicate in English if you cannot speak Spanish. It is a more intimate hotel. Not a big staff but you get more attention and can talk straight to the owner if you have a problem. Breakfast was included which is a double bonus sincey ou get more bang for your buck here.

You do have to walk to get to the downtown area or restaurants. But it is so nice just being there that it was not a problem. There was a couple staying there who had twins and would walk everywhere. Just take your time and you will be fine (I do not work out as a rule).

If you don't know how to set up activities, Ignacio can help you out. Some have cars that pick you up at the hotel to make things easier. While we went in the winter off season (just before the snow) we still had things to do thanks to Ignacio's advice.

The rooms are clean, spacious, and contemporary. The nicest marble bathroom. I definitely recommend this hotel to anyome looking to stay in the San Carlos-Bariloche area.

“Fantastic budget choice”

View Hotel is located above central Bariloche an easy walk (but uphill) from the main centre. View from the rooms is excellent over the lake and downtown Bariloche.

Rooms are basic but very clean and stylish. Bathrooms clean and modern. The bar/restaurant area has an attractive bar with a great location for viewing sunsets but as the hotel was empty other than us during our stay (in late April off-season) it wasn't a place that was sympa to linger.

The welcome was warm but we did not find service to be very engaging and the included breakfast was rather poor (e.g. no fresh juice). Our low mark for sleep quality was due to a nearby angry dog which barked through the night all three nights we were there - whether this is usual or affected all rooms equally we cannot say.

All in all the View is a basic hotel (more so than we would normally choose) but of its type it does a very good job and has the great advantage of being walkable to downtown Bariloche without being in the midst of things.

Room Tip: Ask for higher floor

“easy access to city and wonderful hosts”

Ignacio and his wife are lovely hosts - charming and welcoming. The hotel does live up to its name with an excellent view of the lake from our room. The room was comfortable and had everything we required. This is a great place and easy walking distance to everything in the city. It is a real find and highly recommend staying here - in fact - we plan to return!

“Great Small Hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 April 2011

This hotel has everything most people are looking for: large, comfortable and elegant rooms, good shower, pleasant dining-room and, most of all, great views of the lake. It is also located close to downtown, no need to drive. We found the staff very friendly and willing to help. The owner surprised us by charging $10 less because somebody had damaged a piece of the wood in our room closet! (we did not even notice it.) If no staff is around, just go outside and ring the main door bell (they have different tones for the guest main door, and for the staff door.) Breakfast was very good. Excellent quality / value.
