We (couple in the early thirties + 2 year old daughter) stayed in the hotel for 4 nights. The hotel is really new, just open for a year or so. They say that in the future they'll have a Spa, pool, etc. So far it doesn't exist and they tell you clearly when you book on the phone and if you ask them.
The rooms are quite big, all of them equipped with LCD-TVs. We had two rooms that were connected directly through a door. Price was really low on comparison to international standards (it was lowest possible season too... there might have been like 10 other guests in the hotel...). What disappoints regarding the rooms is the bathrooms. They are really small compared to the rest of the room and although clean and new definitely not 5-star-standard.
Included in the room price was the breakfast that is offered from 06h to 10h in the hotel’s restaurant in form of a buffet. Big disappointment!!! There wasn’t any fresh stuff on the buffet. No eggs, no ham, no sausages… non of the usual stuff you would expect. They had some croissants that were really old, at least several days!!! Well, this might change in high season when they see a bigger turnover on the breakfast buffet but for a 5 star it was not acceptable!
Service at the reception lacked attitude… we got the feeling they felt something better because of working in a 5 star hotel. I’ve been served better in lower category hotels.
All in all, when you like to have new, well equipped rooms and you don’t care too much about breakfast I guess there’s still nothing better in Puerto Madryn.
