I visited the “Quebrada de Humahuaca” (wich I recommend it warmly). I choose Tilcara to spend all the time and, from that lovely town I came and went making several day trips (as Huacalera, Purmamarca, Salinas Grandes, Iruya, etc. –even Tilcara itself had a lot of places to visit-). So, in Tilcara I stayed in “Aguacanto” a beatiful lodge (large cabins with all you need -even kitchen, frigde and fireplace-, and rooms). I stayed in a lovely room, decorated in an esquisit argentinean northen style and very, very comfortable. That last issue is very important if you are thinking to visist this area of the north of Argentina because the weather is cold at night and several acommodations don’t have proper heating –or even don’t have at all-. So, in “Aguacanto” you find central heating, wich is very pleasant when you return after a day trip or from some restaurante ("gastronomic tourism" is a must in this area: try humitas, tamales, all the things made with quinoa, cabra's cheese, llama meat, etc). "Aguacanto" also have king size bed, warm blanquets, lovely bathroom with a combination of stone, wood and modern features, amenities, hair dresser, etc. Then, you can see from your bed the marvelous view of the coloured mountains –not all the logdes of this area have this great privilege-. As the logde is strategally facing the wonderful coloured mountains, you can enjoy the view also from the garden, taking a break on a “hanging” chair on the afternoon or tasting the typicall breakfast on the morning.

The owner, a women named Carolina, wich wide green eyes match with the colors of the mountains, is very kind, warm and cheerful. Always willing to help you in anything you need. Rates are a great deal for the kind of logde features. DON’T MISS IT FOR YOUR NEXT TRIP TO ARGENTINA!!

ps: there is no dengue AT ALL in that area, not even a regular mosquito!!
