I found their flyer by mistake at a hostel in Mendoza last october. When I went to ask about it,Adrian was there at the hostel at the time.So I said to him I will be back next year.Six months later I was back.I stayed at Silvercord B and B for 4 days and nights.I went hiking twice with Guillermo which was fantastic and had a horse ride out of town with Daniel.Lying in the hammock in the morning sun,on the front patio, gazing up at the 5000m plus mountains closeby,is something I will always remember.
I had my own room with bathroom,so privacy was no issue, but only slept there as I wanted to soak up the local ambience.
Sonia was the perfect host as all the food is home cooked - like bread, muffins and croissants and this was just the breakfast each morning! Even with her limited english,Sonia made me feel very welcome as a part of their family for 4 days.To meet their friends (and 5 kids),one evening was amazing with the warmth and friendliness in the house, I saw how much family is so important in Argentina. To take in the atmosphere of village life in the mountains where I was the only tourist was an incredible experience in this little known place only 1 hour from Mendoza. This was at the start of my 2.5 week trip, but I thought every second day after, I wished I was back there.I missed the cooking, quiet, mountain air and the warmth of the family.I couldn't help to think how this is how life should be lived. I'd say it can be a life changing experience.
It would be nice to return some day.
