My family and I (nine members in all, ages 18 to 81) spent our Easter holidays here. Excellent choice: very good service, large rooms, good cuisine, ideal for relaxing, huge swimming pool, spa and heated pool, tennis court. It was just what we were looking for. The place is 70 km from the city of Rosario and 240 from Buenos Aires. It can be reached in two and a half hours from Buenos Aires by car, but there are buses which take you to the terminal in San Nicolás, where you must take a taxi for the 10 minute ride.
The hotel was built in the 1960s in Spanish "colonial" style, but has been refurbished inside. The furniture and mattresses are new, the bathrooms have been modernized but have the original huge bath tubs that you rarely find nowadays, each room has an entrance hall with a table and armchair. Large TV screen, mini fridge, in-room electronic safety box, electronic key card. We booked two standard rooms and two junior suites. There is no difference, other than a little more space and a view to the road and the golf course. Not worth the difference in price. And speaking of price, the package was very reasonable (we paid about 220 US dollars per person for three nights, three breakfasts, three meals, two spa circuits and free parking space above ground. Underground parking space is extra.
The grounds are ample and offer shade under the trees or sun on the lawn. There are two swimming pools. Pool towels have to be picked up at Reception and exchanged when wet for dry ones. One pool is huge and surrounded by lounge chairs. Close to it is a café that serves light meals and beverages. Then there is a heated pool, smaller in size, more secluded, and reserved for adults, also surrounded by lounge chairs. It lies on the way to the annex which holds the special suites and the spa. The spa offers two kinds of sauna, several types of showers, massage and other services.
We used the tennis court in the premises twice. There is also a mini-zoo. Across the road is the golf course, where you can play for a fee.
The city of San Nicolás is about a mile away, but there is nothing worth seeing there. It is an industrial town. From the front windows you can see the the steel works with chimneys spouting white smoke. No smells and no noises, though. Originally, the hotel was meant to house the managers and guests arriving to visit the factory.
As to the food, we were satisfied with it, although the times we chose to eat at the huge restaurant a la carte, we found the quality much better than that of the set meals included in the package, which were good overall.
Entertainment was provided for both at dinner time and during the day, so that enthusiasts could take dancing classes, gym classes, play games, go on treasure hunts, etc. Alternatively, you could use the spa or the fitness centre.
One drawback I must mention: The hotel rooms are laid out on both sides of a very long corridor (about 150 yards) on the ground floor and on the first floor. But there is no lift.
A final word about the especially attentive service: reception, pool, outside café, restaurants. The staff is well-trained in the hospitality business, and will go out of their way to ensure you are satisfied with the services.
