“Very good located hotel, but that's it”

This hotel is two blocks away from the Colon Theatre and subway lines D and B. Recoleta and microcentro is a 15 minut walk away. The location is very nice.
When you enter the hotel, the reception looks nice, but that's it. The rooms are not big, dark and the beds are not the best.
Staff is very friendly and always ready to help you.

“Don't waste your money”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 August 2008

We styaed her the last night of our 10 days stay in Argentina and Uruguay. The Buquebus, ferry service, booked the hotel and told us it was a three star hotel. We were a little afraid of what we would find. When we got out of the Taxi we breathed a sigh of relief because the lobby and court yard appeared to be modern and recently updated. That sigh didn't last long.

The hotel staff was not particularly helpful and tried to ignore us as long as possible before waiting on us. They never helped us with our luggage or a door. The room deocre was completely different from the lobby. It was well used college dorm style. Our double bed was two twin beds pushed together and the sheets didn't fit the bed and kept slding off in the middle of the night. The toilet ran all night long. The towels were thread bare and worn out and a disgusting shade of dingy gray. The shower nobs fell off the shower scalding us while we showed. Then the toilet backed up into the the shower. The shower flooded all over the bathroom floor everytime we tried to use it.

We had to check out at 10am but did not have plane reservations until 9pm. They agreed to let us leave our bags in the lobby but would not put them behind the desk or in another secure area.

When we returned to the hotel after sight seeing to pick up our bags we tried to get the clerk to change $100 paso bill, about $30 US money, for the cab driver. The clerk refused to give us change. My husband was forced to go down the street several blocks looking for change. Of course the staff had no problem flirting with and calling Taxi's for the teenage girls that were in the lobby.

My advice is not to waste your money here.

“Stay Away, Trouble is on the horizon”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 December 2007

This hotel started off great, but after some experience and a 6 day stay, the truth came out.
First of all, the hotel did not live up to the website and the room that they are showing there is definately not the room that you will get. There was no natural light and the beds and pillows were like rocks. The housekeeping service was terrible and once we had checked in, they were not cleaning the room fully. One thing the housekeeping staff did do was search our bags. For some reason $300 went missing throughout our stay. There is only one housekeeper that sits and watches the guests during the breakfast hour.

When I invited my friend from Buenos Aires to visit the hotel and sit in the lobby and chat with me, this was not permitted, no visitors. We had to sit outside in the street because there was no outside people allowed inside the hotel.

There is only one elevator, and this can get slow. The hotel is hosting alot of young kid tours and it can get busy and noisy in this place.

There were two of us travelling, but the hotel only permitted us to have one room key which was a pain, since we both did different things and kept different hours.

Expect to take lots of taxis to things. Not a great area to walk during the night since the streets are dark and not much going on.

The icing on the cake was at the last day and all night there was absolutely no water in the hotel. Starting from about 4 or 5 pm to around 3 am when we left there was no way to shower or even brush your teeth. When we spoke to management about this, they said that this was not their problem and that we would have to pay for the evening even though we had to leave because of no water. (Management was the actual owner of the hotel)

If you stay more than 1 or 2 nights, they will bother you again and again to pay the entire bill in advance and try to get you to pay in pesos and not give a reciept so they don´t have to claim your stay with the government for taxes.

We stayed in this hotel (hostal) because my friend was on a budget, but with just 10 or 20 more dollars, we would of spent the extra to not have the headaches and with the cost of taxis, it probably ended up being the same

“Caveat Emptor”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 December 2007

The hotel looks interesting on the website. However, I would rate it as a 1 to 2 Star mini hotel. The customer service has alot to improve. Some managers are rude and condescending. They limit the use of the "free services". The WiFi is password protected and sometimes they "forget" the password. The street (Tucuman) is not the cleanest street. In fact you can see trash diagonally oppose to the hotel. The beds are simple and uncomfortable. I forgot, beds are small.

The only thing going for this Hotel is the price. It is inexpensive. If they could only be more customer driven, have better beds and less stingy, it would be a good place to stay on a budget. I'm still looking for a great and economical place to stay in Buenos Aires.

“Step above a Hostel”

Hotel is clean and location is good.
Staff is a mixed bag; some are friendly others are surly.
Over all the Hotel is one step above an European Hostel.
Strict visitor policy.
I had local friends and a couple of friends who were staying at another hotel and when one of them came to pick me up and I was not ready, they were not allowed to come up to my room.
Check out is at 10:00 am and they cut off the electricity in the room at that time.
If you are in the middle of blow drying your hair, you are out of luck.
Not a terrible choice; but spend an extra 10 US $ you can do better at another hotel.
