“Ideally situated for shoppers, food and walks.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 January 2012

I stayed here as Explore UK had put us here. It's a run of the mill standard hotel, corporate look to all the rooms, and yes it is dated but... perfectly adequate for a few nights stay (if a bit hot but the air con soon kicked in) with 20 mins free wifi and then payment up front after that. you can however use the apple shop opposites guest wifi from the front facing rooms,or go and sit in the pub next door...
not the smallest room i've ever had but up there with the 'bijou' rating and 'shabby' chic, with a little updating it could be a lovely (er) hotel.

Room Tip: Front facing rooms mean free wifi (guest accounts from other premises)

“Avoid where possible.......we wish we had”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 November 2011

Apparently much used by European small group tour companies........it must be cost........we stayed 3 times because Explore UK put us there and we required pre and post tours accommodation in Buenos Aires. We did not want to be moving hotels un-necessarily and having pre-paid, we tolerated it.......but with hindsight we would not do so again. The good news. The hotel is well positioned and runs an efficient, secure left luggage service. Breakfasts are adequate. The rest is sadly predictable. Cramped, hot bedrooms with small beds and very noisy cold air blowers. 2 very small lifts....3 people maximum.Scuffed, dismal paintwork everywhere, with dated fittings. One expensive Internet access point for 8 floors, so forget using that. Reception staff were generally very unhelpful with no easy ways to access flight information or reconfirm flights. No advice available on city tours or attractions and everything just seemed to be too much trouble. My wife is not a fan of lifts and uses the stairs, so when booking in for the 3rd (and longest) stay, we mentioned that we had stayed previously on the 7th floor and wanted something lower. After 5 minutes of studious attention to her computer screen she gave us 902.....and then got huffy when we asked her to try again. Just try it and move to another room tomorrow was her "un-successful" solution. On that basis we could (and should) have moved to a better local hotel. If travelling within a small group tour, then you have limited control over your accommodation.......but pre and post tour stays are your call and are best avoided at the Waldorf, even if moving is seen as inconvenient.

“Poor hotel, but great location”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 August 2011

The location is good, just few steps from the Galerias Pacifico mall, but that´s all.
The hotel is just ok: normal breakfest, normal rooms and staff.
If you are looking for a good location at city center with a good price, Waldorf will fits you.

“Good location, that's all”

The Waldorf in BsAs is in a good location. Apart from that, the rooms are small, but functional for one. I asked for a quiet room and got one that faced out onto 32 a/c units.
Wifi costs $10 per hr. This is robbery considering all cafes and pubs in the vacinity have free wifi. Breakfast buffet just ok.
Best part of this Hotel is it is 2 doors up from Buller's micro brewery pub.
Make sure to check out happy Hour, IPA and free wifi and very friendly staff at Bullers.

“NOT RECOMMENDED - STOLEN PROPERTY”

IN ENGLISH
Buenos Aires. Waldorf Hotel. Calle Paraguay 450. My family – father (83), mother (69), aunt (79), son and I – stayed at the Waldorf Hotel from October 29 to November 3, 2010.

The Hotel doesn’t provide any information or even brochures on the most basic tourist attractions in town and has a single computer for the clients’ use, to which, of course, there’s always a huge waiting line. To make matters worse, it doesn’t provide safes in the rooms, but only at the reception desk, always crowded.

My aging mother, unfortunately, forgot most of her money – 2000US$, 700 pesos (Argentine currency) and 300 reais (Brazilian currency) – in a black waist bag (a pochette) under the white pillow on her bed. We left the hotel at lunch time and were gone under three hours. Meanwhile, the room was cleaned “and the money too”. Hotel staff claimed it could have been washed away with the bed clothes, in spite of the difference between the color of the bag and the color of the clothes. The money was never retrieved and the Hotel didn’t even have the courtesy of offering us another stay in the future to make amends.

Upon our return to Brazil, we contacted our tourist agent and the Hotel manager promised they would offer us a stay to make up for the theft. That was over a month ago…

So, I strongly recommend that you avoid staying at the Waldorf when you go to Buenos Aires.

Dear Ms. Fattini,

Thank you very much for your opinion.
We would like to make some comments about what happened. After your complaint, the General Manager was deeply involved in the problem and also you and the Housekeeper checked the maid, her office and the laundry room and nothing appeared. There is no proof that the money was in the room in the first place and there is also a possibility that the money was lost in another place.
As you know, hotel does not take responsibility for any money left in the room, as a safe box is available at the front desk and can be used free of charge.
We are really sorry about your comment because we tried to do our best.

Best regards,
Waldorf Hotel
