“We loved Sabatico!”

We arrived here to really trusting, helpful and friendly staff. We booked for a week and ended up staying 17 days! The hostel was really clean and the rooms comfortable. We stayed in both a dorm and a private double. There is a nice rooftop area with an asado you can use and a little pool you can sit in to cool off. The cooking facilities are fantastic and it was so good to have enough cutlery etc! There is a large lounge area to socialise in and eat your breakfast which was fresh eggs, cereal, juice, teas, coffee, bread and jams. The location is good, not too far from the subte line and there are regular buses. Definitely check out this hostel, we honestly loved it!

Room Tip: If you want good sleep request a room down the back!

“Great hostal (with a double room)”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 December 2011

Based on the review before I cant judge for the dorms, but our double room was great. We did not have ensuite but the bathroom and showers were clean and closeby so that wasnt an issue. The location is good, close to a lot of busses and a few blocks from 3 different metrolines. Did not feel unsafe in the evening walking around the neighborhood.
Breakfast is not that special, eggs you can cook yourself, some cereal and jams. The person behind the counter is also responsible for breakfast so every morning I did have to ask her/him to refill something like the hot water, milk or bread because it ran out.
Our room was as close to the main area as it can get but they have 2 doors between the main section and the rooms which makes it real quiet in the room. Bed was made every day and towels replaced on request or every 3 days.
Really recommend this hostal for the double rooms since they are well priced, staff is friendly, location is good and rooms comfortable and clean.

“Sleep?! That's not allowed”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 October 2011

Lounge area was large, comfortable and nice. The breakfast was bread, eggs that could be cooked, margarine and jam. The rooms were compact and warm. I was probably unlucky with the showers, as they were frequently cold.
This hostel, which has the potential to be outstanding, is run in favour of the long-term 'visitors'. They're allowed to assume that they own the dormitory that they stay in. Thus, they try to bully and dictate the use of the dormitory to short-term 'guests'. This included being told that it was wrong to use the dormitory to sleep in. I was informed that sleeping in the dormitory is a hindrance to long-term 'visitors' who want to make phones calls, use their laptops and have social gatherings in the dormitory. Thus, I understand why other hostels regularly move long-term 'visitors/travellers', in order for them not to assume ownership of the dormitory.
The cleanliness score is based on the dirt that had built up inside the shower floor area. The area where people generally stand in the shower had cream-coloured tiles and the surrounding area was black. Also, blood was on the back of the door. In one area, it was clotted and clinging to the door frame. In another area, it was a smiley face (how cheerful). As well as, what appeared to be extracts from peoples noses on the wall. The small, windowless toilet rooms were used as smoking rooms. This was observed for the duration of my stay.
The location score is based on the dodgy people who hung around on the street, especially the people who had a make-shift house, made out of discarded sofas, on the street corner by the hostel front door. I believe this hostel could be so much better.

“friendly and welcoming”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 September 2011

I found Sabatico very friendly and welcoming - they didn't mind my arriving at a very, very strange hour in the morning, the breakfast was simple but filling, the staff provided me with all the information I needed, including buses and hospital location.
I appreciated the level of security the offered and the fact that the staff recognized me after a few days.
The bathrooms were fairly clean.
And, above all, comfortable beds - this is what really counts for me!
All in all - value for money!

“Excelent hostel, great value for money”

The staff are great -and encourage you to take part in things. Loved the rooftop terrace with hammocks. The Thursday night barbecue is a great way to meet everybody. The hostel is not too big -so it´s easy to make friends with other travellers. The location is about a 30 min walk from the microcenter but 10/15 mins to San Telmo. There are buses that cross the city and can take you from the hostel to anywhere in the city. Breakfast was excellent and included freshly squeezed orange juice, eggs, cereals, croissants, bread, ham and cheese .. a great start to the day!
