“Terrible experience; avoid at all costs.”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 September 2010

Checked into this Super 8 off of the 10 Fwy while travelling to New Mexico for college admission...upon entering room, immediately noticed that the room had a feeling of not being as clean as expected; just had a "shabby" feel to it. Small things like bugs in toilet, toilet paper and tissue haphazardly displayed. Two rooms were reserved. Upon walking on tile floor felt like it was giving way; upon inspection, noticed that tiles were broken and/or not set into floor. This extended into bathroom; hazardous, could have easily cut a foot or toe. Complained to desk; was given another room that had two beds instead of the single that was reserved, which meant less space in the room. It was late; whatever, wasn't going to make issue of it. Upon returning, discovered television in second room had blown out; electrical smoke filled room, causing kids to have to open door to try to clear it out. The AC in that room also went out. Called back to desk; once again, had to go back down and get another room. Now back in the room that was originally replaced, noticed that the floor tiles in this room were not set also. We initially called down to desk to request a late check-out due to having to go back and forth to the front desk, but were refused; told they don't allow late check outs and that we had to be out by 11am or else we would be charged another night. We had had enough at that point and requested our money back so we could fond somewhere else that wasn't as unsafe and had better management. Was told by the girl at the desk that there were no refunds and that we would have to call down to speak to a manager at 6am. Let's see...it's already 2am, we haven't slept yet and we're going to get up after four hours in an uncomfortable, unsafe, less-than-exemplary room to ask a manager to accomodate us only to get told no? And then get back on the road and drive the remaining three hours to New Mexico safely? No, don't think so. We argued with the girl for a while who claimed she couldn't contact anyone over her head to make a decision at that hour. Her attitude and comments were very unprofessional and displayed very poor customer service. We were esseentially stuck and at that point I resigned to just get some rest, make do and then complain the next day before leaving for the refund.

Next day, we spoke to another desk clerk; the manager once again was out...who would not give us a refund but told us we were entitled to one the previous night. What the..? Now we're angry but decide to deal with the corporate office upon return because we have a college student to transport and check in by that evening. Upon returning to LA, contacted corporate who helped us to obtain the refund we were deserving of, but not without complaint from the hotel manager who initially offered only a 20% discount and accused us of trying to get a free room. We held firm and refused to negotiate and received the refund. Thank you to the corporate parent company but never again will I stay at this Super 8 in Marana. I'd rather sleep in my car and wash up in a gas station bathroom.

“Good rate/Location/Typical S8”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 January 2010

TYpical Super 8. Breakfast poorly staffed, ran out of both coffees, no hot water at all. The clerk never took her cell phone off her ear during my conversation with her or as she fixed things. Recheck rates before you come they dropped about 4 days before I went. Not memeorable but good rate for the area so the stay was doable.

“Room not clean, Location good.”

Upon check-in things seemed okay. Once in room we discovered hair all over shower walls along with shaving cream or shampoo. We pulled back covers on bed and there was hair in the bed also! The room was obviously not clean.
We asked for a different room and were moved. The new room appeared to be cleaned appropriately, not just straightened up. At 2:30am the fire alarm went off, we exited to the lobby only to find a half asleep security guard and counter person bewildered and confused. After we insisted they search the building and check for fire before "resetting" the alarm, they did. At 3:30am the alarm went off again. Come to find out there was a group of teen agers who came in through the back door of the building (it obviously must not lock after a certain time) and set off the alarm. The security guard would have known this if he had not just been sitting in the lobby eating and watching tv. We will definately not stay at another Super 8!

“A clean, friendly, modern motel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 July 2009

We LOVED this Super 8! After being thrown into a bijou upstairs room overlooking the parking lot of the local watering hole at the Super 8 in T or C, this came as a very nice surprise! The building itself is lovely, and the manager on duty was incredibly pleasant. He even honored our print-out (but not a solid reservation) price, which made it a steal. The room was huge, and very, very clean. New carpeting and bedding made it even nicer. They offer a working (!!!) coin washing machine and dryer, and the ice machine actually makes ice instead of slush. They are also very pet friendly -- our dog was free to walk with us up and down the halls without that sidelong glance you can get in some "pet friendly" places. It is also very convenient to most places that you might need to get to. I would recommend this motel to anyone passing through Tucson. We missed the breakfast, but the breakfast area was very clean and well organized.

“very nice hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 May 2008

I stayed at this hotel for two nights and the hotel was very clean and the staff was very friendly. Last year, I stayed in the Days Inn across the street, but I prefer the Super 8. The price for an AAA discount was only $49 and the location of this hotel is great because of the nearby restaurants and shopping centers.
