“easy access hotel and lots of amenities around”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 December 2011

We have stayed at this hotel in the past...They are going through a remodel as of now, but we were not awakened by any construction noise since it was the weekend..We were able to get one of the remodeled rooms..the room was very nice and very updated..but it was sad to see the workmanship that happened in the room..the towel rack was so crooked in the bathroom and was very obvious..room numbers on the same floor were crooked..and there were other noticeable things..maybe it would do good for the hotel to hear some of this so they can improve things once the remodel is almost finished..we were a little discouraged also, because the hotel is a smoking hotel...we dont remember it always being a smoking hotel..but this time around, the smoke smell was very strong and seemed to come through our heater vents and outside air vents..that was hard for us since we have allergys and we will probably not go back to this hotel until they go back to non smoking..but all in all, the hotel is very clean and the breakfast was very sufficient and we were ok with the room itself..bed was very comfortable and there are alot of eating places all around..alot of shopping also..so not all bad, just cant handle the smoke smell..sorry holiday inn marana :(

“A great hotel for the price and location!”

I have traveled to Tucson for 20 years to visit family and have stayed in all of the hotels surrounding this one. This hotel is by far the nicest of all of them. The room was clean, recently updated, and had two flat screen tv's. The beds were very comfortable. The hotel is currently being remodeled. When we drove up, we found a pile of construction debris in the check-in drive way. We thought we had made a bad choice. However, inside, it smelled clean, the check-in clerk was pleasant, our reservation was correct and we were quickly in our room. The free breakfast has a lot of selections. From pancakes, sausage, and eggs, to yogurt, bagels, coffee, and assorted cold bevarages.

“no issues”

We stayed in Marana for 2 nights while visiting family, just my husband and I. We waited for our room, but that was because we arrived prior to check-in time. They sent housekeeping right over, went to Wal-mart for a few neccesities, by the time we returned..ready. Room was clean, bed very comfortable, nice sized room. No issue with reservations, we booked through priority club. This club is really a great deal, points for free nights. They made sure we had a cat free room, my husband is highly allergic. Cracker Barrel within walking distance.

“Will never stay here again.”

Had reservations for 4 days to attend my son in laws graduation.
Got stuck in Denver without my hotel information over night because of a snow storm. Checked in the next day and explained everything to the desk clerk. Had to upgraded my room because of availability. Spent about 10% more for 3 days then my 4 days would have cost Got home to find a $130 charge on my card. Took 3 calls to find out that it was for missing my reservation. Was informed that the manager would have to approve reimbursing the charge. Have called and left messages and never heard back. A staff top to bottom that just doesn’t care. Stay in Marana about twice a year and have been using Holiday inn Express for about 10 years. Time to see what else is out there.

“Nice place but beware.....”

My husband and I stayed at the Holiday Inn Express in Marana the night of May 26, 2011. We were traveling from California to New Mexico. We were traveling in a rental truck after cleaning out my mothers-in-laws house and bringing her items back to New Mexico with us. We were tired after driving and checked in about 3:00 in the afternoon.

I will say the room was nice, clean, and the bed very comfortable.

Also there are two other nice motel/hotels in the area and restaurants within walking distance.

When we packed up to leave the next morning at about 8am, to our horror we found that the entire rental truck had been stolen. The person behind the front desk spoke highly of their surveillance system. He spoke so highly of this in fact, he state they are able to get government contracts because of it. Nevertheless, we is our habit to park under a light, which we did since the back parking lot was empty when we parked there.

The theft happened at 10:06pm while we were fast asleep, but you would think early enough that someone would have seen something, besides they had surveillance tapes, right? We watched the video of the crime. You could tell, it was well organized. Two cars involved, and at least 3 or 4 thieves. We were amazed to see them get into the locked truck, see the alarm go off (headlights flash, not once but twice,) and drove it away in less then three minutes. The tapes showed a clear shot of the crime, but though the police took these tapes they were unable to enhance it enough to get anything, no license plate, no clear picture of the thieves.

All I am saying is, do not get a false sense of security just because it is a Holiday Inn Express, which we ourselves had felt in the past, or that there are surveillance cameras around.
