We have just got back from a 10 night all inclusive stay at Delta Beach Resort. On arrival, we were told by our Thomas Cook rep to go straight up to the desk and we will be checked in. Expecting to be greeted with at least a "hello", we were given a piece of paper and simply told to "fill it in". Nothing was explained to us about what we were filling in, and when it was done the lady at reception took it off us and walked away. We waited, guessing somebody was going to give us a key which they eventually did and we were then led to our room by a very helpful porter who answered all of our questions. Our room was lovely, a standard room with a sea view and no complaints at all. After exploring the resort, we were very impressed with the place and could not wait for the rest of the holiday. The bars on the resort were good, especially the lobby bar, you could not find a friendlier and more welcoming member of staff anywhere else, he made our stay enjoyable and treated us as though you would expect to be treated in a 5 star hotel. The main buffet restaurant seemed good at first, but make sure you take some shoes with a good grip on them as the floors are very slippy. The food was a little bit repetitive, and as a bit of a picky eater i sometimes struggled for choice, but thats just me. The food went downhill when we realised we were about to eat raw chicken, since that moment we always checked our food to which on more than one occasion it was raw. There may have been plenty of other things to choose from but this is not what you expect from a 5 star hotel. On the other hand, we paid the extra 5 euros each to eat in the italian restaurant, it is a set 7 course meal which was very nice and the waiter was lovely, maybe it is worth paying this so you know you are getting cooked food? There were always plenty of sun loungers at the resort, there was no rushing down early in the morning to make sure you got a place. The walk into Yalikivak took us a good 30 minutes, there was a few bars and restaurants and a few small shops, nothing much else except there was a lovely harbour with sea views. As a 5 star hotel, we thought we were going to enjoy it a lot more than we did. I would say that if you are looking for a relaxing holiday in the sun and you dont really want to go anywhere, then this place is perfect as long as you arent a fussy eater! For us, the service we received off some members of staff and the food let it down, and i think we can say we wont be returning anytime soon.
