“Not Great”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 November 2011

As is common for the region, Four Star is more like Two Star. Staff were friendly and efficient even though I suspect I was the only paying guest! The rooms are a good size although they all only have very small, very low, single beds. The rooms look tired but are cleaned OK, and there is very good wireless internet access throughout the hotel.
On the one night I stayed I was plagued with mosquitoes, bitten all night from head to toe and when I looked at the walls in the morning it was clear that other guests had experienced similar problems, small splats of bloodied corpses, clearly visible.
Breakfast was a basic affair, croissants filled with marmalade and machine coffee and watered down orange juice.
For one night, it's OK, if you can avoid the bugs, any more than that, probably one to avoid.

Room Tip: Don't open the windows, bug alert.

“Good Hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 September 2008

Garni Hotel Pristan is a four-star hotel (read Adriatic/Mediterranean ****) located at the edge of the historical centre of the city of Koper. Due to the proximity of the largest companies in Koper, the hotels regular guests are mostly businessmen but it attracts tourists as well. The hotel is also the home of the Consulate of the Republic of Croatia, and in its approximate vicinity there is a shopping centre, hair dresser and a
massage and beauty salon, where the hotel guests enjoy special discounts and benefits. The exterior of the hotel is unique, all lines join into a uniform image of a large vessel. The hotel offers ten modern equipped rooms with air conditioning, bathroom with a shower or bath, hair dryer, Sat. TV with a VCR, telephone and mini bar. The rooms are all fairly large, some more so, with three or four single beds and a separate room/office. Self-service breakfast is available from 7 AM to 10 AM and this is just a simple continental breakfast. I normally don't bother and go to the Azzuro bar, which is right next door, to buy a much superior cup of 'Cappuccino Grande's. Safe deposit is at the hotel reception and you have the use of the (secured !) car park which is small, so leave your car keys at reception if you do not want to be woken up early in the morning to move your car. The hotel restaurant is good but expensive, compared to the rest of the town and there is the bistro Admiral, next to the Azzuro bar, but this is closed by 8 PM but it is only a short walk from here to the centre of Koper where there are plenty of restaurants and bars. A single room costs E.77.00 and a double room E.60.00 but here is a tip, tell them that you have business in the port of Koper and you will get discount. The hotel reception doubles up as the bar but there is also a terraced area at the front. This is a good hotel, very clean and the staff are excellent and very friendly, especially Ingrid who is in charge of reception. I use this hotel for business trips but if you are just passing through Koper and need a room for a couple of nights, you could do worse (Hotel Koper for example)
