Okay, we knew it wasn't the Ritz, but the word "Comfort" should be removed from the name of this hotel...we travel frequently, and often use the Choice Hotels brands, and this establishment does not measure up to what we have come to expect. The most interesting part of our stay was when I opened the drawer of the nightstand to get a phone book, and discovered that the previous occupant had left a holstered gun behind. Fortunately, the front desk called a few moments later to say that said guest had just contacted the hotel and that the clerk would be right up to retrieve the weapon and return it to its rightful owner. Good thing, as I had visions of the owner pounding on our door looking for his property... The room was basic, but since we were only staying one night after a long day on the Apache Trail, we thought it would be okay, and there's not much in Globe. In hindsight, I should have looked for a B&B, but since we weren't really staying long, we tjhought that a major brand hotel would be fine. Wrong...the lost-and-found issue was just the beginning; the rest of our experience was pretty bad as well. The linens left a lot to be desired. There is a "cute" sign in the lobby advising guests that they can purchase linens and pillows to take home - to discourage theft , I assume. The pillows were priced at $15. I would have cheerfully paid someone $15 to BURN them, they were so awful - small, lumpy, mismatched things, no pillow protector covers, just the pillowcase over none-too-clean looking pillows that had obviously seen better days. The linens were cheap, to say the least, and the bottom sheet on the bed was stained as though someone had drooled on it (I am praying that it was stained and not dirty from the previous occupant ...) The towels were small and skimpy. The curtains needed to be vacuumed or dry-cleaned: when they were drawn, thick layers were obvious. Unfortunately, it was late and we were too tired to drive any further at the time. In the morning, the continental breakfast was in need of replenishing - almost nothing available at a little after 8 in the morning. A waffle maker with no batter , some cold cereal, bagels (no cream cheese) little else. When I pressed the grapefruit juice selection on the juicec dispenser, nasty brown liquid that in no way resembled juice came out...no thanks! The breakfast area was in need of wiping down, as well. The front desk staff were too busy chatting to pay much attention...Fortunately, we had food in our cooler and made a quick departure, after advising the clerk that we did not use the safe in the room so he could deduct the $1.50 charge assessed for it (very odd). Never again at this location. (We had reservations at another Choice Hotels brand for the following day, and had a flawless stay, so it's the individual hotel, not the brand...)
