“"ONE OF THE WORST MOTELS I'VE STAYED IN"”

One of my sons made a reservation at this hotel because of the price. We were in a hurry to get to my other sons in Superior for Christmas Eve, so we stopped in on the way to look at the room to see if they matched the outside, which was pretty bad. It was very cold in the room, but the manager said he would turn the heat on for us. When we got to the room around 10:00 that night, the room was still cold. I looked at the ancient heater on the wall and it was on, but the flames were low. I tried to turn it up, but it was already on the highest setting. There was a thermostat on the wall that said it was 60 degrees, but it was set on 90. It never got above 65 degrees. My daughter of 7 and my granddaughter of 4 stayed snuggled in their bed. My wife was cold all night. I worried for them.

The next morning I did what you usually do in the morning, that's right, take a shower. NO HOT WATER IN THE SHOWER OR IN THE SINK! I sat on the cooold seat and noticed the blobs of caulking around the wall and thought "Yeah, the shower leaks out on the floor", which explained why the cheap peel-and-stick tile was seperating.
A couple of more things and I'll shut up. The floor was so unlevel, that when my wife got up to go to the bathroom, she started moving too fast and almost tripped! I also looked at the bed the girls slept on and the head legs were propped up with about 2-3 inch rocks to level out the bed. THIS IS ROOM # 3.
The good things about the room? How can you think when your shivering all night? My son which stayed in another room there told the Manager upon leaving about the heater and lack of hot water, but all he said was "I'LL SEE IF I CAN DO ANYTHING" and walked away. No apology, or anything.

Room Tip: When you ask to look at the room, make sure all the ammenities you take for granted are working.

“El Rey room #4 pretty OK”

only got hot water for 4 minutes in the cold februbary night. my boyfriend got a full 13 mintues without problems the next morning. the comforter had a big yellow stain. the sheets appeared clean. the heater was duct-taped together in places. the person in the room next to us set their alarm for 5am & did not shut it off until 7:15, we had to listen to it all morning...thin walls.
carpet was gross, they knew it, put cheap rugs over as much of the carpet they could. very shoddy 99cent store linoleum job in the bathroom.
I also got a kick out of how they have to blatantly screw the tacky art to the walls....there has got to be a more attractive way to display art without morons stealing the "art".

Super Super Good Stuff:
TV w/lots of channels. microwave. mini fridge. excellent customer service, the best i've ever had. consider it a very fancy squat & i'd probably stay here again if i was visiting roosevelt lake or the pinal mountains. also, plenty of mirrors, roomy closet, circle k across the street. i got my hotel key from some breakdancing guy when i arrived since the real manager was out shopping.
i thought that was pretty cool.
i like hotels where i'm not afraid to step on the carpet or in the bathroom barefoot, this is not the place. Next time we promised ourselves we would bring our own pillows because theirs were so thin & flat.
It reminds me a lot of the hotel congress in tucson.
your very own carport parking space. $42 tax included for one night/queen bed
and yeah, i'd totally stay here again, as long as i was feelin' like simple folk.
which i usually am.
