“Stunning location, Sonoran delights”

Firstly, we did not come here to golf or spa but came to enjoy the Sonoran desert location. We were greeted personally at the gated entrance and then again when pulling up to the bell stand. The desk clerk was gracious and efficient and we were soon surrendering our vehicle and being ferried off to the casita along with our luggage. A fun little tour by golf cart led us to our greens view casita. From this vantage point we had the morning sunrise. We also had the many greenskeepers conducting their morning maintenance business. Next time we will request a desert view for a more private patio experience. Our casita was very spacious and clean, with a woodburning fireplace (wood provided) and two leather easy chairs to enjoy the view of the fire and flat screen TV. The bed was heavenly with pristine linens and a cushion that was "just right". The bathroom was spacious, but laid out a bit strange, offering a tiny shower stall and a gigantic vanity area. There was also a make-up vanity with a stool and Hollywood lighting, but no magnifying mirror. The furniture, while comfortable was unremarkable - could not pinpoint the look, with some SW references and chrome lamps. The bar area had nice Mexican style glassware but was very tiny and crowded to do much of anything on the countertop.
The entire property is beautiful and maintained in a controlled natural style with native plantings and raked gravel. There are some fabulous large rock formations to hike around and nature trails and walking routes through the complex. The two pools offer scenic views, cushioned lounges and were meticulously tidied by the attendant. Most guests seemed to be here for the golfing, but as a desert retreat this cannot be beat. The way the casitas are situated within the property offers privacy and lovely views for the nature lover. The cozy casitas are like having your own little piece of this magical world.

“Beautiful Property”

Just got back from 3 nights at the Boulders. Staff were friendly and helpful; golf cart service around property and valet parking complimentary, easy to access and use. Our Casita was ground level of a 2-story building - Noise from upstairs was a little loud, but nothing too bad. The room was large and clean with a very comfortable King bed and huge bathroom. The fireplace (stocked daily with wood) is a wonderful touch for some of the chillier nights! Was hoping to see some wildlife off the patio, but rabbits and birds were the only active creatures around. We ate lunch once at Palo Verde (nothing too spectacular, $15 for a chicken fajita wrap and fries, would only recommend for convenience) and breakfast once at the Spa Cafe (delicious! loved the granola french toast, $13), we spent all of our dinners in Cave Creek (~5 mins) or Scottsdale (~45 minutes). Since we are not golfers, we picked this resort for the scenery, spa and peace and quiet. The total spa experience was wonderful - HUGE locker room facilities with all the amenities you can imagine. Our 80-min couples massage was pricey, but included about 30 minutes afterwards in the suite with use of private patio, hot tub and steam shower, very relaxing! The gym offers a lot of cardio equipment and many classes throughout the day. I did head over to El Pedregal for a quick pedicure at Salon Mila and as many have stated, the area is VERY deserted (but the pedicure was a better deal than at the hotel and they were able to fit me in last minute; seemed to have a steady clientele while I was there). We did have a slight issue at check-out with our package details and resort credits, but it was resolved quickly and efficiently. If you're looking for a quiet, relaxing trip - this is the right place.

“great escape”

This was the best golf escape with hubby. Spent 4 days at the W in Scottsdale on business and decided to take the 35 minute drive and escape the scene at The W and do a little R&R in Carefree. SO HAPPY we went to The Boulders ..the golf courses were awesome! The Casita's were spacious and a peaceful change from downtown Scottsdale. The fireplace in the casita was perfect on the cool Feb evenings. I had the lavendar wrap treatment in the golden door spa it was AWESOME. I reccomend this if you are looking for a Casual relaxing get away. The prestine grounds natural beauty and wildlife sightings along the way made it a awesome 3 days escape from business in Scottsdale. Look forward to returning again!

“5 day stay”

we just returned from 5 days at the boulders with another couple and had a terrific all around experience. The service all around was great and particularly impressive was the over the top service we received from the bell stand group and several individuals elsewhere(carol matthews/concierge, Jenny Elliott/front desk). We played golf everywhere, including the boulders north the last day. If I had it to do over again we would have played both boulders courses as the one we played was great.
We look forward to our next visit there.

“RELAXED AND PAMPERED”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 February 2012

We went with another couple for a long weekend getaway. We all needed some time away from the hectic pace of the holidays, work, and children. Needless to say, the Boulders was just the place to unwind. Upon arriving at the property, we felt like the Boulders were large barriers from the outside world. The staff were all courteous, helpful and professional. Our Casita rooms were extremely comfortable. We spent long mornings at the relaxing and adult only Golden Door Spa. Unlike other resorts we have been to, classes were free. Our friend paid to get a massage and said it was one of the best he has ever had. The grounds were beautiful and serene. There were no children running around or people getting up early and saving seats at the pool. We watched beautiful sunsets from Sunset Point. It really was the perfect place to unwind and get rejuvenated. We had booked at another resort in Scottsdale and so glad we changed our stay to the Boulders. We are looking forward to returning.

Room Tip: Choose a Casita on 2nd floor with mountain view.
