If you're going to Whittier and you're not dealing with June Miller, you're missing the full experience and have no guarantee that everything will go right. First, let me say that I had not a little trepidation about a B&B in a 15 story building! June met us at the station and transported us to our "digs", a top floor, two bedroom condo overlooking the town and harbor. I think the B&B comes in because June delivers baskets of fruit and muffins and checks up on everyone (tucks you in) each evening. If you're looking for five star, step and fetch-it service, this is not the place. If you want a warm welcome, bend over backwards help having your definition of a good time, I haven't encountered better.
I had booked a charter for the following day to go king salmon fishing; the guy had troubles with his motor but assured me it would be ready the next day. We made it to outside the breakwater and returned. June, on seeing us back in the harbor called another captain and persuaded him to take us out (see my review of Jim Muhar's Prince William Sound Charters). He normally doesn't do day trips.
June made arrangements to secure our luggage, while we were out fishing, and we boarded the Alaskan Ferry Service's Kennicott for our ride to Juneau that night, a very pleased bunch.
