“Very remote, could be better”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 February 2012

This hotel is very remote, there is nothing round for miles. This is ideal for travellers who like this sort of thing but for us it was a big downfall. The transfer from Hurgada airport was awful, it said in our brochure two hours but we travelled in the dark and it took roughly four hours. The hotel itself was beautiful but very large and not enough restraints to cater for the large amount of visitors. The food was poor quality, everything tasted the same (watery). Us and two other couples had complained about this to the tour operators whilst there. This hotel is very clean and has a lovely set up. All rooms have a beautiful vie.

The beach at this resort is amazing! The water is so clear you can be neck deep and still see your toes. Snorkelling is great here, you don't have to book a snorkelling excursion because you can do everything yourself on this amazing stretch of beach.

Beautiful hotel ,shame it's hours from anything else.

“Splendid Isolation”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 January 2012

The hotel was very quiet and almost deserted after 11pm late December/early January. The food at the gala dinner was fantastic and the staff had worked very hard. Food in general was fine but the a la carte menus were restricted and mediocre (except the steak in the Italian or if you paid extra in the seafood restaurant).
The staff were usually very friendly and helpful especially in the lobby bar. They work long hours and still manage to smile and be pleasant. Problems were dealt with extremely quickly but when it related to the Italian restaurant, the manager reacted unprofessionally and aggressively in front of other customers and continued his obvious displeasure whenever he saw us.
The location is very isolated and taxis anywhere are expensive. Thomas Cook claims the resort is at El Quseir (which is 35 km) but it is closer to Marsa Alam. Port Ghalib was a deserted, sterile marina and we struggled to pass 2 hours until our taxi returned. El Quseir is truly Egyptian and more vibrant but it doesn`t take long to explore it.
Dive Dive at Port Ghalib is an etremely professional place and inspired much more confidence than the hotel dive shop, who hadn`t heard of BSAC, didn`t have prices available and is not really operational. Dive Dive even organised free transport for me which saved me a £40 taxi fare.
Beware of chilly winds and when it gets dark at 5pm in winter. We spent most early evenings keeping warm under duvets as the heating didn`t work. I`m sure it`s very different in summer though.
Sentido Oriental is fine if you only want to relax and don`t care which country you are in as it could be anywhere in the world.

Room Tip: Sea view helps to beat wind breaker hoggers who build their own estates.

“Jewel in the Desert!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 January 2012

Me and my girlfriend booked this holiday in 2010 to go in September 2011 16th to 30th. We choose this hotel because of the comments on trip advisor and what thomas cook said. This was our first holiday away from the parents and we just wanted to escape and relax, that's just what we did! Fantastic hotel and great service. We arrived at 1am in the morning and was greeted with warm towels and a fruit drink, which was gladly appreciated! The reception was great, even when I messed the safety box up that night at 2am they came straight away! Fantastic food, so much to choose from (don't be put off by other reviews say it was poor). The Italian and the mangrove were to die for! I had my birthday and the mangrove and was treated to a cake and exceptional fish. Mohammed and Mahmoud in the Italian were true gents and a great laugh! We just made so many friends from Saad in the restaurant, shico the photographer, fox, dj momo and Aston! Everyone was so friendly and you really got to know the real people. All great people and now friends on Facebook :) this truly is the best holiday we have been too (and I've been on many!) do not be put off by the transfer of 2hrs it builds up the expectation and wow factor the hotel gives.
It must be good as the English couples we got friendly with have been returning for years and now have a trees planted in there honour!
Absolutely fantastic and we are really debating going back this September! It's a must...
