we booked our cabin unit directly and thought how bad can it be!
i have stayed at holiday parks before in my youth and they were always clean tidy and quiet. This however was not, as we drove in there were 3 units near the main road and my initial thought was hope they are not going to be mine. but on checking in i was told i had the 1 near the road, i thought "great" but it was only for two nights so i thought i would bear it. on walking in the room was dirty,dated and just not nice. (my girlfriend lifted the rubber matt near the door to reveal a big worn out dirty brown hole in the vinyl).
so i went to ask if we could move and was told it would cost an extra $7 a night, to upgrade to a motel unit near the back. and although it was quieter it still was dated and cold! so on paying my extra money a night i thought we would get something extra for the money, but again no.
we left for our day out thinking the room would get tidied the bins emptied and towels changed, when we got back nothing had been done!
on checking out i queried why this had not been done and was told by the obnoxious host i did not leave every thing outside? which i was not told to do!
so for a extra $7 a night i still have to clean after myself?
my advice is if going to Timaru, don't bypass it and go to either lake Tekapo or Omaru.
