Okahune is a great base for those wanting to do the Tongariro Crossing. It's a short drive to the national park with plenty of companies offering shuttle services. There are also a few restaurants and bars in town which is just a short walk away from Manuka Lodge which is well located in a quiet residential area overlooking farmland. The lodge itself is newly built so is modern, very well appointed and very comfortable. Our room was large, comfortable and very peaceful; there is also a very large guest lounge downstairs and a hot tub in the garden although we never got to use this. Breakfast in the morning was very good - on the first day we were able to have extra early as we were being picked up for the hike and on the second day we enjoyed in the sunshine out on the deck. The hosts Alan and Susie were very helpful and friendly without being overbearing. Great value.

This modern inn was built with comfort in mind...best bed of our trip and stylishly decorated. Breakfasts were delicious and the small ski town of Ohakune has wonderful restaurants and unbelievable natural beauty both in walking distance and easy driving distances. Alan & Susie provided transportation to and from the train and helped us in a variety of ways.

Large room, extremely clean and comfortable. Definitely looks like one of the best around the area and it was definitely good value for what you get. Highly recommended especially you are doing the tongariro crossing - location is close enough and you can relax and enjoy after a day's hike!

Friendly hosts, good location, very lovely rooms, cosy, great breakfast! We spent 5 days here and loved it, very relaxing.
