It was hard to get to this place, sure, best thing about this town is that transportation is cheep. and the view is completely worth it. never seen a better view. there is a telescope for guest use as well.
dale, the owner, has filled the house with wondrous trinkets from his world travels. from a collection of bottles, to old railroad signs.
the owner was kinda grouchy, but only to people who thought they were entitled to more than they paid for, understandably.
the thing about hostels and them being cheep is, your not paying for hand and foot service, your paying to be part of a community, so of course you need to clean up after yourself. he does the laundry for you at least.
i was there for 10 days and the maximum amount of people who stayed at any given point in time was 8. he has 6 beds downstairs and 5 in the girls dorm room. there is also a couples room. one of my favorite things was just talking with the other people that stayed there. there was a couple guys from Turkey(taught me some Turkish sayings), 3 people from the states, and many people from Australia. 2 Japanese girls as well. had fun talking with them.
for the bare minimum, your paying for a shelter that you have a hand in maintaining, but what a great shelter it is! point being, id rather stay there than go to one of the hotels in town, except probably the real expensive one on the hill. but thats a little extravagant.
