“Excellent Place to stay”

Stayed one night while in between Ferrys. Service was above average, I arrived in Juneau well before check in time and I was allowed to check in early. The room was very clean, spacious and well maintained. The restaurant attached to the hotel has excellent food and you get a 15% discount if you're a hotel guest.
All the staff from the the hotel to the restaurant was super friendly and helpful...I will be staying here next time I'm in Juneau

“A Pleasant Surprise”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 March 2010

Let me start by saying that I've stayed at half a dozen hotels in Juneau and none of them are particularly fancy or extraordinarily comfortable, so this very clean, affordable and well located hotel with an indoor pool came as a nice surprise when we overheaded to Juneau during a particularly bad storm and stayed two nights. I particularly liked it's proximity to the airport, Donna's Restaurant and the little shopping plaza across the street and its pleasant staff and it's cleanliness. The entire hotel was plain, but spotless and smelled wonderful. The room was nothing special with regards to furnishing, but very functional, spacious and clean. The bedding was newer and very clean, with double sheets on the blankets, and the beds were firm. I wasn't a fan of the weird flat pillows, but I've had worse. Each room has full cable with HBO, a welcome 'fridge and a microwave. The hotel has a free airport shuttle, is on the bus line and offers several shuttles a day to downtown, saving a $25 cab ride. All in all, I was really pleased with this hotel and would definitely consider staying here again when I overhead to Juneau.

“We enjoyed our stay and will again next time we are in Juneau.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 January 2010

All employee's from shuttle bus driver to front desk check out treated us respectfully and professionally. The house keepers were friendly and restaurant staff had great customer service. The rooms were well decorated with plenty of walk space, and the floor-plan was exceptional. We enjoyed being so close to the airport. The pool and hot spa was a relaxing experience, although we did not take advantage of the fitness center. The Mi Casa Restaurant located in the hotel served some of the best Mexican food in a pleasant environment.

“Consistently good lodging”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 January 2010

Just had to take the time to respond to this latest review.......we often stay at the Travelodge in Juneau.....In fact I just booked a room for three more nights next month.....I have NEVER seen bed bugs here.......Travelodge just recently remodeled....I think it was Feb 2009 we were staying there and they were recarpeting and re-doing the interiors....Last stay in November our room seemed brand new......it's kind of hard to believe that things are so worn or dirty as the negative poster claims.....The staff is always very helpful and I really like that the courtesy van runs 24/7.....and that there is a microwave and fridge in each room.....

“BED BUGS and rude staff! STAY AWAY!!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 January 2010

My husband, 6 month old daughter and I recently stayed at this establishment on the night of January 2, 2010. We were stranded in Juneau on our way home to Petersburg from an Alaska Airlines mechanical failure of our jet. Alaska Airlines paid our fare to stay at this hotel. In the past they had paid for us to stay at the Extended Stay and this was my first time staying at the Travelodge.

I was relieved to find that they were paying for us to stay at a hotel after a long trip home from holiday in Mexico. We immediately called this establishment from the airport to get a shuttle to the hotel as it had been snowing outside and we did not want to bring our child out into the cold. The first problem of a long line of problems began here. It took the shuttle nearly 30 minutes to pick us up at the airport. Once we were finally picked up (along with two other waiting couples), we were rudely checked in by the receptionist. He never made one word during the entire check in process. One of the scary elevators was broken, so I urged my husband to take the stairs.

Once we got to our room, it smelled faintly of cigarette smoke (non-smoking hotel) and the air was ice cold. I immediately turned on the thermostat to the “comfort zone”. Some other things I noticed while wondering around the room was that there was a faint cigarette burn on the toilet seat and bright yellow stains on the well worn red rug. After 30 minutes the room finally heat up, but to blistering warmth. I was distraught to see that the only mode of relief was from a broken oscillating fan (the fan kept hitting the housing and making such a loud noise that I was worried it would wake our neighbors). We dealt with the fan and the three of us climbed into one of two beds in our room.

Approximately 20 minutes after climbing in, I felt something crawling on my skin. Shortly thereafter, small red bumps appeared on my exposed arms. We concluded that we were being eaten alive by BED BUGS! We quickly moved to the other bed because we were too exhausted and upset to change rooms. We were relieved to find we were no longer being bitten. I took off my child’s pajamas to find her belly was covered in red bumps. I began to sob because it was so terrible and felt so bad for putting my child through this.

We didn't bother telling the hotel staff because they were so rude. Instead, I wrote a letter to them and their corporate office...as well as Alaska Airlines. They shouldn't subject their guest to this place (I write this as I scratch my bite wounds). DISGUSTING! DON'T STAY HERE!!! Run as fast as you can the other direction!! Try the Extended Stay which is closer to the airport.

The following information is the result from our room inspection conducted by our hotel's pest control company:
Interviews: Maintenance and Housekeeping staff was interviewed and has demonstrated an excellent knowledge base concerning the detection, reporting to management, room isolation and quick and thorough treatment of suspected infestations. Management reports that pest problems are given top priority and if rooms are identified they are taken out of service, treated professionally and returned to service only when pest free.
Conclusion: The staff and management have an excellent Integrated Pest Management Program. They have an unusually high devotion to providing a most excellent environment to their guests. Their efforts to control all pests are a hallmark in the industry. Their communication and cooperation between departments is excellent and results in quick and correct action. The management and staff are well tooled for the detection and control of pests. Staff has demonstrated current knowledge in the detection and handling of bed bugs.
Inspection: Inspection of the mattresses and box springs of both queen beds revealed no remarkable signs of bed bug activity. We found no active or inactive bed bugs, blood spots or casings anywhere along or under tufts, tags or in or around the mattresses or box spring covers. An internal search inside the box springs failed to identify any bed bugs or sign of any bed bug activity. Head boards were dismounted and inspected for sign and none could be found. Lamps, the television, dressers and night stand were all inspected for bed bugs and bed bug sign. There were no active, inactive bed bugs, casings or blood spots found. An inspection of the bed frames revealed no sign of bed bugs. The furnishings in this room are in excellent condition, the carpeting is brand new condition and all surfaces are clean and free of dust and debris. The room walls and ceilings are in excellent repair. This room is typical for this facility.
Conclusion: Our inspection of room XXX in the Juneau Travelodge Hotel found no bed bug activity. No evidence of any kind could be found that bed bugs have ever been in this room. Our inspection did reveal an exceptionally clean and well kept room. This room is not remarkable in this regard as this is the typical standard found at this facility. We coud find no evidence of bed bug activity in room XXX and it is our conclusion that this room is and has been bed bug free and is safe to sleep in. Thank you for your time.
