We were looking for a place to stay before we went to Anchorage for my husband to ride in the Idati-ride. Sadie Cove was the only place I contacted to willing to have guests in the winter. When we arrived Randi and Keith greeted us on the beach, Keith showed us around, while Randi went to finish up dinner. We were amazed that this lodge was built by Keith's bare hands, the lodge was maintained very well. That night we had steak, fresh crab legs, salad, homemade bread, and orange cake, while watching the eagles and mountain goats. The accomadations were very comfortable and very homey. One of our favorite things was the sauna, the hike up the trail behind the lodge to get a closer look at St. Augestine, walking up to the end of the cove with sea lions swimming along the beach. The weather was unbelievable for that time of year. Keith even took us out one day in the kayak and it was amazing to see the starfish. We spent a lot of time talking to Randi and Keith about the life they had built and worked for at Sadie Cove. We now feel we have a better knowledge of Alaska and what it takes to live there. Randi and Keith became friends of ours and we can't wait to go back! If you want the comfort and luxury accomandiations of a 5-star hotel, Sadie Cove is probably not the place to go, but if you want to go somewhere where you escape from the fast-pace world, where the owners are friendly, knowledgable, and to stay in a place that feels like home and all the comforts the wilderness can provide and have the best home cooked meals of any of the top rated restrauants then go visit Sadie Cove where true adventures of Alaska awaits.
