We stayed at Inano for the last 4 of our 7 nights on Aitutaki, we wished we'd booked 7 nights straight. We were lucky enough to have booked the beachfront bungalow and were treated to the most beautiful sunsets. Prior to departure from NZ we'd read some negative reviews and were a little concerned that things had changed for the worse. However after our visit I'd say the reviews are from people who just should stick to resort living and leave the islands to more relaxed travellers. We were out kitesurfing every day from early until late in the evening and Veia was kind enough to come and collect our luggage from Samade and unload it onto our balcony at Inano. We arrived to a lovely warm welcome and sat on our balcony with Veia for a 'get to know you chat', she gave us lots of good tips about this island, what to do, what to see, told us all we needed to know about Inano, including helping ourselves to their bananas, the fact that she did purified water bottle swaps for $1, this was great as we were a long way from any shops and the Samade bar only sold very small bottles of water for $4. Our bungalow was fantastic, private, absolutely huge inside, fabulous bed, great shower, clean towels, well set up kitchen and super clean. The matting on the walls and ceiling is amazing and a really nice touch. We booked Inano as we'd intended on self catering for the last 4 nights of our stay but ended up eating breakfast at the markets prior to kiting each day, eating out was so cheap we didn't bother setting ourselves up for meals in. We'd recommend any of the food at Payless, especially the grilled tuna with paw paw salsa and island fries, one look in the little kitchen and you can tell this guys been trained very well in a professional kitchen. The markets down by the wharf have an amazing array of precooked foods and sandwiches - get there early for the best choices - vegetable samosas are fantastic. The Heineken store is probably your best bet if you're wanting to self cater, they have a good selection of frozen meats and other superette type products, not to mention beer and wine at reasonable prices. We took mosquito coils and repellant after reading reviews of mozzie squarms but found although just on dusk there were quite a few mozzies around they weren't biting us, we sat on our balcony every night with drinks and watched the sunset, with two coils burning we didn't get any bites at all. Once it got dark they disappeared also. We'd warmly recommend Inano to any couples wanting a chilled out, comfortable holiday. Since we were out kiting on the motus every day we thought we should stay closer to the wharf on our next visit but after looking around at other places of similar value it's not a hard choice to choose Inano again, we'll definately be back. Thank you Veia and Moreau for a fabulous holiday.
