“Spirit of the South Seas”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 January 2012

This past summer our family of six vacationed for two weeks at the Villa Corallina; an exotic motu set like a pearl in the aquamarine waters of a South Pacific lagoon. Each morning when I awoke, I peeked through tilting palms at the lagoon and asked myself, am I really here?

We rented the impressive main villa, the gorgeous master bedroom cottage ( a few metres away), and the quaint third cottage which lies along a short pathway. All three cottages have beautiful natural interiors that make them feel 'at one' with the motu. We ate our meals on the deck overlooking our private beach, breathing the scent of gardenias and hibiscus. The sun sets by 6pm in this part of the world, so we enjoyed our dinners by candlelight and a fire flickering in the stone BBQ. After dinner we lazed on the beach, wine glasses in hand, and took in the stars. The surrounding sky was so dark (no light pollution here) that the milky way and the southern cross blazed.

The hosts of Villa Corallina are a fascinating couple named Marco and Tatiana, both of whom speak excellent English. During the two weeks of our stay they took exceptional care of us. Marco arranged our excursions on Moorea, attending to every detail, even to the point of telephoning a marine biologist to find out if the whales had arrived in the waters around Moorea. Marco, it seems, knows everyone on Moorea, and only refers his guests to the best. His advice was impeccable; his willingness to ferry us in his aluminium boat (named Ramco), unfailing. He is a kind, philosophical man, with a true instinct for hospitality.

Tatiana is a women of special touches, bringing a spark of magic to the Villa Corallina. While we were off on excursions, she tidied up, hanging our beach towels to dry, lining up our soggy water-shoes in the sun, prettying our cottages with fresh flowers. She drove us into town to order a birthday cake, then drove back a few days later day to retrieve it for us. Once, she even arranged fresh palm leaves in a bathroom shower, making us feel as if we were showering in the jungle!

And then there was the lagoon, the best swimming water I've ever experienced; “like an aquarium,” as Marco was fond of saying: warm, shallow, white sandy bottom, and undersea castles of coral teeming with fantastically coloured fish. Needless to say, the snorkelling was exceptional.

Obviously, I highly recommend Villa Corallina; it is authentic, private, exotic. We found a soul-soothing beauty there, an unpretentious ambience, and a sense of seclusion that seduced us - the true spirit of a south pacific island. I only hope we'll be able to return.

“Paradise!!!”

Villa Corallina is a slice of paradise where we were lucky to spend a few days! When traveling, we prefer to avoid hotels, and the villa was perfect for our family of five. Everything about this place is amazing. The hosts (Marco and Tatiana) are gracious, wonderful people, who live in their own villa next door. Kayaking, swimming, snorkeling, are all within easy reach, just few steps away from you kitchen or bedroom.
I completely agree with all the wonderful comments mentioned in other reviews. We are already dreaming of returning to the villa.

“A magical paradise you will never forget”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 April 2011

Finding a hidden gem in paradise is rare. Finding a hidden gem with two wonderful and charming hosts is even more special. Villa Corallina will memsmerize you with it's beauty and you will never want to leave. Go quickly to this hidden gem--you will be forever touched. There is no other place in my opinion that compares in Moorea. The big resorts lack charm. This place is unique, built with love, attention to detail and character. I never wanted to leave and am counting the days until I can return again.

Leave the world behind for a few days and treat yourself to this magical place. Of all the places I have been in the world this one will always be a favorite.

“Perfect for our family”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 September 2010

Our family of five (myself, my husband, two children in their twenties and our 12 year old) spent five glorious days at Villa Corallina last December. I've been meaning to write this review since then because all of us so enjoyed our stay. The location is quiet, private and stunning. We relaxed at the beach, kayaked, snorkeled, took walks around the motu, and also explored the main island of Moorea. (Regarding the beach, it's both sandy and 'ironshore'; we simply wore water shoes and enjoyed everything about it, particularly the sea life around the ironshore.) Marco and Tatiana, who own the property, along with their home just down the beach, were accommodating, helpful and knowledgeable. As hosts, they achieved the perfect balance of anticipating our needs but otherwise leaving us to ourselves. Marco transported us by boat from the motu to the main island whenever we requested it (including a very early morning departure so we could make our connection to our next destination, New Zealand.) He and Tatiana gave us great advice about places to go, restaurants, tours, etc. (And when our youngest developed a dental problem, Marco arranged a visit to the dentist.) I can't imagine a better way to enjoy the beauty of Moorea than staying at Villa Corallina. As excited as we were to see NZ, when it was time to leave, none of us wanted to go! We went on to have a spectacular time in NZ, but we all agree we would love to return to Villa Corallina some day, as our only destination.

“A Peaceful Paradise.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 August 2010

Our stay here was for six wonderful days in July 2010.
We have read the other entries for the villa here and viewed the pictures. All the wonderful things these Trip Advisers say are true. Pictures are great but it is hard to catch this much beauty in a picture. The host/owners Tatiana and Marco are very helpful, charming, generous and kind. They have their own beautiful Fare next door (A Fare is an open-air house.). Tatiana is a wonderful cook. She was very kind to bring us delicious local specialties to try during our stay. A helpful and friendly staff of two resides on the expansive grounds in small cottages. The staff was seldom seen yet diligent in maintaining manicured grounds, a raked beach and stacked kayaks. There is an outrigger, a two-person kayak and three single person kayaks. It was amazingly peaceful to take a kayak out in the early morning on a glass calm lagoon. Marco is available to bring you across the lagoon during your stay. He was so kind to take us to visit a nearby lagoon location where we swam with sharks and rays. A thrilling experience! Snorkeling is incredible! We spent hours exploring the coral near the villa.

We rented the large, main Fare for six days. There is also a separate master bedroom Fare available and a small cottage near the back of the property away from the beach. They only rent to one party at a time on the property. The cottage looks very nice and cozy but we highly recommend the main Fare. You will not want to miss the views from the main open air Fare and deck, which overlooks the beach, lagoon and Moorea.
There are none of the sand flies (No-Nos, No-see-ums) here that can be found on many islands. There are mosquitoes mainly in the still of the morning and evening. Mosquito coils are provided and work amazingly well. Bring insect repellant.

We cannot say enough about the truly wonderful experience we had here at Villa Corallina.
