Upon arrival, the place was closed. They have VERY limited hours, so if you arrive by ferry in the afternoon and show up, no one will be there. There was no one to call. We kept buzzing and buzzing like the sign said to alert whoever is around lounging around inside, and could not get a hold of anyone for about 15 minutes. We didn't know what to do we had nowhere to go. I really think there should be someone there when they expect afternoon check ins and they have bookings.
Finally someone showed up, oblivious to our arrival time and checked us in.
We were shown to a beach front 1 bedroom unit at first, and then told oops my mistake, this smaller one behind is yours. So we got a studio garden suite instead. This was quite disappointing, since the other one was so nice and spacious. The awning over the windows are very low and the rooms are very very dark. So it was not fun to spend time inside there because it was like being in a cave. Your bedroom is in your kitchen and eating area too, so it was a little uncomfortable as people were walking by and sitting outside so we had to be careful to cover up all the time.
You can sit and eat outside, you just have to be wary of mosquitoes at dusk that come out, so we spent more time inside rather than being coated in bug spray constantly on our long trip of French Polynesia.
Next time I would definitely pick a 1 bedroom, even though it is more I think we would have appreciated the extra space and privacy and being away from other guests walking by our windows.
What we did enjoy was the sharks.
Every day they do a shark feeding where you can walk or snorkel in beside the sharks. They are pretty big, nurse sharks and smaller black tip reef sharks. Totally harmless, but still gives you a thrill in the water. It was nice to see up close. You can see lots of sharks here on tours anyways, but this one is free.
We stayed here for 4 nights, which I think was enough. Maybe you can stay longer if you want to do more diving. We went to the Tiki Village show, you can get the dinner and show or just the show. We did just the show, dinner was very pricey, but it's nice to have options. We also did a lagoon tour and went snorkelling and got to see some other parts of the island by car like the Belvedere Lookout.
Moorea is a very nice island to go to and very beautiful. I got a lot of great photos and videos and it's definitely in my top list of islands all over the world. Kauai in Hawaii is up there too. We will definitely come back to the island, maybe to this resort if they have bigger rooms available.
