My wife and I stayed at this hotel for a few days and felt that it was a bit mediocre for the price that we paid for the rooms. I would agree with the previous reviews that the grounds are very nice but I think that the rooms need some remodeling. The air conditioner in our room was not powerful enough to keep the room cool. We had the air conditioner on full blast and it was still quite muggy in our room. The bathroom in our room looked like it had not been cleaned in a while and there was dirt all over the floor of the bathroom. Our sheets seemed rather old and they probably needed to be replaced. The towels also seemed rather old and had alot of visible stains on them which also indicates that they need to be replaced. The location of the hotel is such that it is built very close to the mangrove area which tends to make the entire hotel grounds very hot and muggy compared to the coastal hotels. This is probably part of the charm of being very close to the jungle but those of you looking for a retreat after a hard days trek through the jungle should probably look elsewhere for a better hotel for your money. The general heat and humidity of the interior of Puerto Jimenez is such that tourists who are not used to such heat will probably require a hotel that has adequate aircon or is closer to the water. We ate lunch at the Palms restaurant down the road from this hotel and you could feel the breeze which was very refreshing as compared to the sauna like atmosphere of the interior. This was our first time to Costa Rica and we would recommend going with a hotel closer to the water as it is totally worth the extra money. In terms of the staff at the hotel, they did not seem particulary happy to be working there which indicated some problems with the management. We had dinner at the hotel on occasion and the food was always very tasty - kudos to their chef. The bar staff was also friendly in general. Overall, we were disappointed with the sanitary conditions of the hotel room and probably would not go back.
