Our stay at your hotel was great. It was very clean, staff was very friendly and helpful. Was very relaxing, quiet and comfortable.

The hot tubs and swimming pools, were nice and enjoyable, the grounds were beautifiland well maintained.

Will recommend to anyone I hear going to Costa Rica.

We loved staying here. The pools were luscious and the amenities were plentiful. Great beds and showers in the rooms. Great verandas on the rooms with nice chairs to sit outside. An $8.00 taxi ride to town which was ok since there were 6 of us...but would get expensive for a couple. Too far to walk safely (busy road and no sidewalks). Sadly the food int he restaurant is not as good as the grounds. We liked it but would prefer to be a bit closer to town since you get tired of the food offered here and the other hotels near by are even more expensive. Happy hour gives you 2 drinks for the price of one...and nice appetizers.

A Dutch owned hotel which is clearly reflected in the quality of the building, pools and service. The hotel is not large, some 50 rooms on 3 floors, served by two lifts but spacious in its layout. My wife and I were impressed on arrival by the gated security with our name logged against an incoming guest list. Having parked, staff immediately appeared to take the luggage to reception. Here we were greeted by a welcome drink and a registration form already filled in with our name and details of the booking.
The rooms are spacious, excellent marble bathrooms and efficient aircon. All rooms overlook the main swimming pool (104 F) and adjacent plunge pools and jacuzzis. A swim up bar also serves snacks to complete the air of luxury.
The restaurant extends to an open terrace which we found very comfortable for outside dining with no flying insect life.
The local staff all were very friendly and very well trained.
Our thanks also to the management for their offer of 1 free night having paid for two.
Our only disappointment was the quality of breakfast. Choices were limited, the fried eggs lukewarm and congealed in the serving dish, and this on all 3 mornings of our stay.
But that apart a quality hotel, and our thanks for the Happy Hour at the top floor balcony bar.

This was our first stay at this hotel and I was quite suprised at how nice this place is. The rooms are great, the hot spring pools are great. Super clean and modern rooms. I just about liked everything while staying here. The restaurant staff were so friendly and courteous that they made you feel very welcome and it was their pleasure to serve you. The only thing the hotel lacked was a small snack store, notice I didn't say gift store. I would highly recommend this if you are staying at La Fortuna.

Room tip: All the rooms are great.

We stayed at Hotel Royal just after Christmas. While the weather precluded us from seeing the Volcano, we very much enjoyed our stay. The room was fantastic with great beds, lots of marble, great shower and great amenities. The hot spring fed pools we're very enjoyable and the 5th floor bar was a great retreat after a long day of touring. The staff will help you organize your tours, but don't be afraid to research and book tours on your own. The restaurant food for dinner and breakfast was just ok. Service was good, but food quality was just ok. Overall, a great experience.
