This is a surprisingly urban-looking hotel in a stunning setting, overlooking the mostly dormant Arenal volcano.
The rooms were nicely furnished and very comfortable. They had sizeable balconies with chairs and a small table for volcano watching. Everything about the hotel was classy and sophisticated. The service was professional though rather cold-to-unfriendly - by resort standards. But we didn't mind, as we didn't come to make friends with staff but rather enjoy and indulge ourselves. The natural hot-spring pools ensured we did. There was no need to get a day pass to pricey Tabacon and soak with bus-loads of tourists. Royal Corin's beautiful pools were rarely full and we really enjoyed them and their lush garden setting.
The food at the restaurant was good, though probably not that memorable, as I can't remember what we ate.
We had our laundry done at prices that were surprisingly reasonable (actually, low) for a 4-5 star hotel.
We didn't book any tours with the hotel but purchased a separate walking tour of Arenal Volcano Park and they picked us up at the hotel.More
