We loved our time in Kandy in the freedom lodge. Sarath and Nalini take a good care of their guests. Same as thier friend Pio who can work as a driver to bring you everywhere you want.
We traveled 2 days with Pio and it was really nice.

we booked for 2 nights instead of 3 by mistake. luckily the 3rd night was also available. however, owner told us on the second day that we have to share the connecting bathroom with another traveller. it was the last night and he gave us a small discount so we were fine.

we took the last floor penthouse with a private balcony. it was worth paying more cos u get a great view of the city. it was very relaxing and windy at the balcony. other rooms are not so nicely located.breakfast was simple fruits and toast, coffee and tea were hot. a plus point.

one minus point is that bathroom needs improvement. the window was a huge hole without any frame. lots of crawlies appeared in the evening. there are also ants around the basin and toilet bowl.

overall its a nice place away from city crowd.

The family who run this are so friendly and delightful. The food they cooked for us was the best we had on holiday - fresh veggies straight from the garden.

If you want the best deal, book direct with the hotel, be careful you don't get "hijacked" by an intercepting travel agency.

stayed at double rooms. I looked around the other guesthouse nearby but this guesthouse is cleaner. the owner lady is very helpful and you get hot water shower.
